Overhaul

[edit]

I did a quick but long overdue attempt at an overhaul of the page. A seven year old {{in-universe}} template, effectively no references, much too detailed, outdated with the new releases. I still have a bunch I intend to do, some of which is still hanging around incomplete on one of my subpages, but the article is back in half decent shape again. I have to admit that my knowledge of Mandalorians is limited to Clone Wars era, so the section on the expanded universe is largely out of my depth, but that's what I understood based on my vague background knowledge and attempting to understand the previous version of the article. The section has to be referenced and I believe the animated series section is too long and needs a little trimming, but considering the shape the article was in before, it's much, much better. ~Cheers, TenTonParasol 21:39, 22 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Referencing style

[edit]

Oh! I forgot to mention, I'm unsure with the way I've referenced the episodes, with the superscript TCW and SWR. I don't remember exactly where I had used that format before, and I'm not entirely sure it's passable. At ay rate, I suppose trying it out, and if it really needs to be changed, the conversion is simple. ~Cheers, TenTonParasol 22:27, 22 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Cosplay?

[edit]

Feels a bit weird that the main photo is fan work. As impressive as it is--and they did a really amazing job, to be sure--any picture of Boba Fett from the films or The Mandalorian from the series would serve as an authentic, official representation. I wanted to bring this up as a point of discussion rather than just replace the picture myself, but personally I always favor official published/produced material over fan recreations (no matter how well done). Gives me flashbacks to the Al Leong page with the "artist's conception of Al Leong."

Mandalorian alphabet

[edit]

Wasn't sure who to approach about this, so leaving it here for someone. The picture depicting the alphabet has a flaw, the symbol for "C" and "U" are exactly the same. Didn't know if that was intended or not. If it is a flaw, could someone with more expertise than I please fix it? Persistent Corvid (talk) 00:49, 19 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

It is mentioned in the file's page that this is intentional because it is based on the original script developed by Metschan, which for some reason had C and U the same. ~Cheers, TenTonParasol 01:21, 19 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Oh I see, thanks for the info. Persistent Corvid (talk) 20:42, 19 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Helmet Removal

[edit]

The lede states that Mandalorians never remove their helmets in front of others, but Jango is named as a mandalorian in the article and he was helmet-less on a few occasions. Lava Lamps (talk) 11:44, 5 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Bo-Katan also says in Episode 13 of The Mandalorian that some Mandalorians remove their helmets as well, as she, Axe Woves, and Koska Reeves do it a ton 207.136.88.24 (talk) 17:13, 26 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The Mandalorian (Din Djarin) - played by Brendan Wayne (The Mandalorian)

[edit]

The main character (The Mandalorian) is actually played by Brendan Wayne, John Wayne's grandson, and the voice is Pedro Pascal. John Wayne is known for famous western cowboy movies. The Mandalorian removed his helmet in the final episode of the first season when you do see an actor behind the mask. It wasn’t until the season finale that he finally took his helmet off, though he did it while holding the doer at gunpoint. When it was looking like he actually might die, IG-11, a robot, convinced Din Djarin to take his helmet off for Bacta spray to save his life. That actor was indeed Pedro Pascal but only a temporary "stand-in". Once the helmet is back on, then the actor in the actual suit is once again Brendan Wayne. The reason is that he was picked for his walk and movements for the character, besides, his head is small enough to fit in the helmet. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jusxwiki (talkcontribs) 15:56, 5 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Interesting comment, is there any citation for that?
IMDB lists Wayne as only appearing in one episode, Chapter 8: Redemption, in the role of "Mandalorian Warrior" ( https://www.imdb.com/title/tt8111088/fullcredits?ref_=tt_cl_sm#cast ) Geoffrey.landis (talk) 04:42, 5 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Rename

[edit]

I suggest that this article should be renamed Mandalorians. First, this is more accurate: the article is about the Mandalorians, a group (for example, the article Huns is plural, not "Hun".)

Second, it will more clearly differentiate this from the series "The Mandalorian".Geoffrey.landis (talk) 04:31, 5 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

This is actually a good point! I've looked into it, and the article naming guideline at WP:PLURAL supports this. The page is currently move protected, so I will put in a request. ~Cheers, TenTonParasol

Add Boba Fett voice actor for the Star Wars Holiday Special

[edit]

The table listing known Mandalorian characters includes Boba Fett and the actors who have portrayed this character, both live-action and voice, but fails to mention both the character's first appearance in an animated segment of the Star Wars Holiday Special (1978) and the actor who provided his voice. According to a starwars.com article on this animated short produced at Canada's Nelvana studio, Boba Fett's voice performance was by Don Francks. https://www.starwars.com/news/the-star-wars-holiday-special-boba-fett PC8k (talk) 01:50, 24 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
