You say that man united has the most trophies of any English team. they are tied with Liverpool, both have 66. you say Man United is only one of two clubs that have won the club world cup, both Chelsea and Liverpool have won it, making them one of three. Amendment to Honours section under Doubles and Trebles.

This currently states:

Doubles League and FA Cup (3): 1993–94, 1995–96, 1998–99 League and UEFA Champions League (2): 1998–99, 2007–08

Trebles League, FA Cup and UEFA Champions League (1): 1998–99

However, the treble is duplicated as two doubles for 1998-99 season which is not consistent with other treble winning teams. The page should read:

Doubles League and FA Cup (2): 1993–94, 1995–96 League and UEFA Champions League (1): 2007–08

Trebles League, FA Cup and UEFA Champions League (1): 1998–99 AndyB48 (talk) 19:15, 7 March 2022 (UTC)

War of the roses

The wars of the roses was not fought between Yorkshire and Lancashire so why is it cited as the source for the cross Pennine rivalry between Leeds and Manchester. In fact, other than the perceived similarity by name, the two rivals for the throne of England had little to do with the two counties since much of the estate of the house of Lancaster was actually located in Yorkshire! The 'Man U' Issue

So it seems recently that the myth about the 'Man U' name being an insult originating from a West Brom chant (why do we care about them by the way?) seems to be becoming more and more prevalent in social media and united related sites incliding now this wikipedia page. As Giles Oakley of The Republik of Mancunia wrote over ten years ago, the term had been used for decades by fans, the club, and the media, both before and after the 'highly relevant club' west brom did their supposed chant.

If we are going to label it as a GENUINE insult to the club, rather than being something perpetuated by our own misinformed fans over the last 10-20 years or so can we at least have a discussion about it? Ƒϰɑϯє (talk) 14:58, 29 November 2022 (UTC)

Previously this issue was discussed last year over the same issue. I can't find any reliable source discussing the use of MANU and Edwards and West Brom, and it's refuted by the general usage by the press, the club itself and various other sources. We could say it's not an official nickname of the club that they give to themselves, but it is a very common contraction. Koncorde (talk) 16:05, 29 November 2022 (UTC)

Zidane Iqbal/Kobbie Mainoo

I see United have added Zidane Iqbal to their first-team squad page on their website, and that we've correctly followed suit. However, on the United website, they've listed Iqbal as wearing number 73, which is not the case; he is number 55, as listed here. The player who actually wears number 73 for United is Kobbie Mainoo. Since Mainoo has been named in United first-team squads for the last couple of games, isn't it more likely that the United website meant to add Mainoo to the first-team squad list, not Iqbal? – PeeJay 13:39, 16 January 2023 (UTC)

United’s grounds

The header section of this article says that United moved from Newton Heath to Old Trafford in 1910. They actually left Newton Heath long before that (the text under Grounds is correct) and played at Bank Street in Clayton until 1910. It would be helpful if someone could correct this. Manchester United Football Club, commonly referred to as Man United (often stylised as Man Utd), or simply United, is a professional football club based in Old Trafford, Greater Manchester, England. The club competes in the Premier League, the top division in the English football league system. Nicknamed the Red Devils, it was founded as Newton Heath LYR Football Club in 1878, but changed its name to Manchester United in 1902. After a spell playing in Clayton, Manchester, the club moved to its current stadium, Old Trafford, in 1910. 78.100.223.193 (talk) 13:57, 14 March 2023 (UTC)

This page has been edited to remove Jonny Evans' squad number, and assign Rasmus Højlund number 17. However I'm not sure why, as as per the offical mufc website, Højlund has not yet been given a number, and Evans does have 27:

https://www.manutd.com/en/players-and-staff/First-Team LettPersona (talk) 18:54, 12 August 2023 (UTC)

Evans has not been registered with a squad number, per a news article posted on the club website a couple of days ago. He appears with a number on the website because the squad list draws data from the same database as the match engine; if they didn’t assign Evans a number in that database, he would appear without one in friendly line-ups, but we can see he wore 27 in friendlies. However, that does not mean he has been assigned that number officially. Numbers worn in pre-season are not official. – PeeJay 21:51, 12 August 2023 (UTC)

Garnacho number 17?

On both this page and on Alejandro Garnacho’s Wikipedia page, it says that he has been given the number 17. However, the United website says that he still has number 49. Velociraptor888 08:22, 1 September 2023 (UTC)

Loan info in first team section

It seems we kinda started an edit war, which is good to clear and end. PeeJay keeps adding on loan end date in squad template which is a practice that is not used in any other football article. I don't know how this is not a good argument to remove it, as it is the common way we all do it for all football articles. Anyone can join and explain what is the difference for the Manchester United article, or just to confirm the used practice. Chris Calvin (talk) 21:14, 3 September 2023 (UTC)

I don't remember how it was done, I thought it was with dates, but now seeing how long it is, breaking a line, I don't think so. That's why I checkec article history versions and it turns out that loanees where without end dates - only those loaned out had dates.
So, taking that into account, my position is that it shouldn't be added. Arguments for:
keeping dates:
  • full information
removing dates:
  • better overall look
  • it's a current squad
  • no braking lines
  • common practice (also at MU page)
Red Devil (talk) 06:41, 4 September 2023 (UTC)
It doesn't break a line on any screen I view Wikipedia on, so that's just your problem. As far as I'm concerned, we've included loan end dates forever, and I've been editing this page for more than 15 years. We include the end dates for players who are currently away from the club, and the whole point of a loan is that it's temporary. Without the end date, how does a reader know this isn't a six-month loan, or a one-month loan? If other pages don't do it, I think that's something that needs to be corrected at their end, not here. – PeeJay 08:22, 4 September 2023 (UTC)
Also, this is definitely something that should be discussed at WT:FOOTY, since it affects way more than just this article. – PeeJay 08:23, 4 September 2023 (UTC)

1. 'Rivalries', currently under the 'Support' header should be a section on it's own, as it discussed rivalries on the playing field, not of the supporters.

2. Under 'Rivalries', the last sentence reads "this fixture has become known as one of the finest Premier League match-ups in history" - this needs a [who?] added, as the attached references make no comment about it being 'one of the finest'. 155.190.13.13 (talk) 03:22, 19 July 2024 (UTC)
