Was the Head before the present not Mrs IRELAND? (rather than ISLAND, as it currently appears? MacAuslan (talk) 14:22, 23 May 2009 (UTC) (I taught there between 1970 and 1974).[reply]

And was the head who appointed me not ShoEsmith, rather than ShoOsmith? MacAuslan (talk) 22:56, 2 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Is this notable enough to move back into the article?

Fanny Blankers-Koen, the famous Dutch Olympian from the 1948 Summer Olympics, visited the school in 1950.

Is this significant? RJFJR (talk) 18:24, 29 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It recently showed the musical production of The Sound of Music which was directed and choreographed by Daniel Sellers (drama teacher), with music by Margaret Wright (music teacher). It involved a large cast of staff and pupils from each year group. The show took place in March 2008 with Alice Palmer and Helen Clark, both year 11 pupils, playing Maria Rainer. The drama department also put on a summer concert, which was a range of musicals performed by the drama club and GCSE drama students. The musicals involved included, Chicago, The sound of music, A Chorus Line, Little Shop of Horrors, High school musical, Aladdin, Wicked and Grease. Producers were Daniel Sellers, Margaret Wright and Claire Todd. The drama department were also involved in the Shakespeare festival held in Lincoln in which they performed Shakespeare's Othello. It was again directed by Sellers and the cast included many students from years 9, 10 and 11. The main school production of 2009 was Little Shop of Horrors, directed by drama teacher D.Sellers with music by music teacher M.Wright, with the cast ranging from 11 to 16 years in age. 2010 saw the successful production of West Wide Story, the last school musical produced by D.Sellers and M.Wright together, as she left for retirement.

Pronunciation of Malet

[edit]

"though many in Hull pronounce it /ˈmæleɪ/, rhyming with the British pronunciation of "ballet"."

I was born in Hull and have lived here most of my life and I've never pronounced Malet to rhyme with ballet, nor have I ever heard anyone else doing so. At the very least it should be changed from "many" to "some", though I suggest removing the sentence altogether. --M4roho (talk) 10:43, 20 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
