Malav
[edit]As per historical texts etc, present time, Mali caste people are descendants of ancient Mali Gana people ( also known as Malloi, Malian, Mulu, Malav,Malhi etc in history),who were residing in and around Multan( Multan derived from Mali +sthan = Malisthan or Malithan, place of ancient Mali Gana people) and sangam area of Ravi and Chenab and it's banks in ancient Punjab since time unknown. They fought with the army of Alexander in 326BC and so Alexander started his historical Malian campaign against them and attacked their fort like structure made up of mud near banks of Ravi and a fierce battle was held and Alexander was seriously injured by an arrow of Mali Gana, then his infuriated Greek soldiers killed Mali Gana people including their women and children brutally, many Mali women burnt themselves to save them from foreign Greek soldiers and perhaps, it was first recorded jouhar ( Atmadah or self immolation) in Indian history and after this defeat Mali Gana people migrated towards south east side in present day Rajasthan and Malwa( Arabic: Malibah) area of present day Madhya Pradesh and further in Maharashtra and later spread in other parts of India. They were defeated by Uttambhadras in Malwa region and other strong tribes in Rajasthan and became very weak and also became very weak in their original Multan area and their areas were occupied by other strong tribes. 117.230.47.62 (talk) 22:19, 4 November 2024 (UTC)
