Connection to Iranian new year ??
[edit]The claim that Mwaka Kogwa has to do with the Iranian New Year should not stand as it is. Iranian New Year ( >>Nowruz) is very clearly on 21 March (northern spring equinox). As Mwaka Kogwa is celebrated in July this does not go together.
Whatever the connection between "Shirazi"-Tradition and MWaka Kogwa on one hand, and "Shirazi" and Persia on the other hand, the article should not state local lore as established facts. Kipala (talk) 14:36, 3 January 2014 (UTC)
While there is definitely no connection to the Persian New Year Nowruz there is, however, an interesting parallel to a local tradition on the Iranian Gulf island of Qeshm called "Norouz Sayad". It is celebrated in the village of Salakh at the end of the Persian month Tir which brings it to mid July. It involves a bath in the sea and traditional dances. A very short mention is here http://en.iranwire.com/images-of-iran/5442/ 185.46.137.14 (talk) 13:26, 21 July 2016 (UTC)
