Issue with moniker 'Kilbride Castle'
[edit]Although the terms 'Kilbride Castle' comes up in some recent popular sources, there is no contemporary evidence in existence identifying it as the Kilbride Castle of the 1100s, and other site candidates exist for this. While it is possible, one cannot call it this. There is no citation to support it. However, place-name, structural and charter evidence does imply that it must be the predecessor of Mains Castle, and so must be the Comyn Castle, which may or may not be on the site of Kilbride Castle. Therefore, to be correct the moniker should be changed to Comyn Castle. I have made this change to the article. 82.43.88.129 (talk) 22:02, 27 August 2024 (UTC)
