[edit]Changed "6" major vessels to 3. "Major" is a vague term, but MMA only has 3 USCG inspected vessels: TS State of Maine, Bowdoin, and Pentagöet. --C Adam B. 03:44, 30 June 2006 (UTC)
For reference, MMA campus is currently using the IP block 209.222.* --Dj245 15:15, 18 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit]Maritime1941 and Mwhetston repeatedly deleted the following text from the article:
'''Faculty compensation''' In an open letter<ref>William J. Brennan 1/28/2016</ref> to the MMA community President Brennan addressed compensation complaints by the faculty. "Maine Maritime Academy employees are paid at a highly competitive rate relative to our sector of the economy and especially in the State of Maine and within Hancock County. For example, a review of the most recent IPEDS data indicates that MMA faculty are paid at a rate higher than the combined average of all other state maritime academies reporting and receive compensation greater than faculty at five of the seven campuses of the UMaine System. In fact, some MMA professors were paid in excess of $140,000 last year, which is higher compensation than any of our Vice Presidents receive." The issue of compensation has been a point of conflict between the MMA administration and its faculty.<ref>{{Cite web|title = Bangor Daily News - Google News Archive Search|url = https://news.google.com/newspapers?nid=2457&dat=20001122&id=aqVJAAAAIBAJ&sjid=mw0NAAAAIBAJ&pg=3059,1936416&hl=en|website = news.google.com|access-date = 2016-02-10}}</ref>
I can understand why this is contested, but I'm unsure if I have the jurisdiction to make a judgement, or engage in an edit war. — Andy W. (talk · contrib) 18:30, 22 April 2016 (UTC)
- As an uninvolved party, here are my thoughts. First, it's a poorly cited quote, and even if verified, on the issue of faculty compensation it's just a claim by one party in the dispute, see WP:V. Second, it gives undue weight to the position since I'm sure the faculty would have their own position on the issue which is not also included. Third, this edit is not encyclopedic in tone. It's jarring when reading within the article and has no context. Fourth, it was added by the user Key2lock, where 3 out of 4 account edits have been about this content. It gives the impression that it was added with the intent of promoting this partisan issue, which is not the point of Wikipedia. At this point, I believe the content should not be in the article. ~PescoSo say•we all 02:00, 2 May 2016 (UTC)
