[edit]The NRHP nomination document from 1990 or 1991 for this district can be obtained for no charge, by request to the National Register of Historic Places. It would provide a lot of good info on each contributing property and on the general significance of the district. --doncram (talk) 00:41, 13 February 2010 (UTC)
Need to recheck the buildings listed in this district
[edit]The NRIS description says, "Roughly bounded by US 70 and Garden, State and Logan Sts.". Those boundaries may include the McDowell County Courthouse (which is separately listed on the National Register anyway), but the First Presbyterian Church is a block west on Academy Street. St. Matthew's is three blocks west on Court Street, and St. John's Episcopal Church is four or five blocks south on Main Street. Moreover, the railroad depot is part of a different historic district, the Depot Historic District (refnum 91000293). There's the Marion Multiple Property Submission lists all five of these as distinct listings. --Elkman (Elkspeak) 00:23, 16 February 2010 (UTC)
