Disputed tag
[edit]We are seeing the first sparks of an edit war over whether the disputed tag should be included in the infobox under the PM position of Maia Sandu. Please do not engage in edit warring and constructively give your opinions and reasoning as to why you want to Keep or Delete the small disputed mention.
- Keep. The 2019 Moldovan constitutional crisis is ongoing, and the disputed tag is the best reflection of the crisis. Pilaz (talk) 16:04, 14 June 2019 (UTC)
RfC lead image
[edit]Just out of curiosity I was wondering on everyone's comments about the article's lead image? I created a new cropped image which, in my opinion, think would be better as a lead image. Thoughts? --TDKR Chicago 101 (talk) 15:59, 18 November 2020 (UTC)
- I don't see any issue with the image you created TDKR Chicago 101. I support using this image as the lead image in this article. Are there any trademark issues with the original image you used to create the one you propose using? Jurisdicta (talk) 19:05, 19 November 2020 (UTC)
Controversies section
[edit]The whole Controversies section seems very biased. I added her response in the case of the accusations regarding Antonescu. I also removed poorly sourced paragraphs about the "Open Dialog Foundation" and about the alledged charges of fraud regarding the baccalaureate security cameras. The sources telegraph.md, politics.md, actualitati.md and are obscure websites which produce very politically charged and poorly sourced "news". I did not check the sources for the other controversies. The entire Controversies section resembles an electoral smear campaign and in my opinion shouldn't belong to a Wikipedia article. Official portrait
[edit]@Ooligan: I'm not following your argument.
- Is there a consensus to use "recent" images even when an official portrait is available? Sandu's 2020 photo is her official portrait for the entire tenure in the office (expiring later this year). Suppose I uploaded it immediately after creation – would you have considered swapping it the next day for a "more recent" third-party photo? After a week? After a year? Not clear where the cutoff is. I'm looking at this article Joe Biden where I see his official portrait from 2021 and no rush to update it to a more recent year. (And I'd argue it would make more sense to seek an update of his portrait than Sandu's, given how much he's physically changed.)
- In what concerns quality, obviously I agree that the official photo is modest, but it conveys the person identity well, and I'm not sure why we'd want another image, where the only way to sense the better quality is to access the full resolution instead of the small-res infobox thumbnail. And the only things we'd see better in a higher resolution are her wrinkles, and slightly changed haircut & makeup, which as we agree are an encyclopedic matter because woman (sorry for sarcasm).

Romanian citizen?
[edit]I have just removed from the infobox the claim that she is a Romanian citizen. The claim was supported by this reference[1] where the statement is doubtful (this is a short article which claims Sandu said it herself). It is not supported by the text of the (Wikipedia) article. The claim that the president of Moldova is a citizen of Romania is extraordinary, and according to WP:BLP and WP:RS, in my opinion, should be better sourced. For transparency, I did not check the history of the article and I do not know who added it to the infobox. Ymblanter (talk) 09:30, 21 October 2024 (UTC)
- It's a pretty well known fact, and Sandu never disputed it. See for example this Reuters news or this report from Radio Free Europe.Anonimu (talk) 12:53, 21 October 2024 (UTC) Anonimu (talk) 13:01, 21 October 2024 (UTC)
- It would be ok for me to add Reuters, it is a quality news agency and in English. Ymblanter (talk) 12:57, 21 October 2024 (UTC)
- Great, thanks, I will take care of this. Ymblanter (talk) 13:44, 21 October 2024 (UTC)
- If this is sourced in the article already, then probably we do not need the ref in the infobox per MOS:INFOBOXREF? Mellk (talk) 14:18, 21 October 2024 (UTC)
- Yes, I can remove this. Before my edit, it was not even mentioned in the body. Ymblanter (talk) 14:51, 21 October 2024 (UTC)
- OK, makes sense. Thanks. Mellk (talk) 14:53, 21 October 2024 (UTC)
