The canal before Mahmoudiyah Canal
[edit]http://rumsey.geogarage.com/maps/mosaicegypt29_48.html from 1818 shows a Canal d'Alexandrie, that had been cut "par les Anglais" on 19 April 1801 at a site, where it passed between Lake Mariout and Lake Aboukir. Those days' Lake Aboukir is now agricultural land south of Aboukir Bay.--Ulamm (talk) 22:34, 4 January 2013 (UTC)
I've related the old map and the actual map: Near Alexandria the course has remained. Upstream (of the canal) it is now much streighter, and the bifurcation from Rashid Nile is now 20 downstream (of the Nile).--Ulamm (talk) 23:48, 4 January 2013 (UTC)
