Mahjongg Outboard
[edit]Contributions by people who understand a bit about the band's gear would be really appreciated. What kinds of instruments and equipment are they using? What effects? Tell us.--Atlantictire (talk) 00:51, 23 August 2010 (UTC)

Mahjongg Rhythm
[edit]Does anyone understand anything about their drumming technique and rhythmic patterns? What's going on here: afterbeat, downbeat, one drop, polyrhythm?--Atlantictire (talk) 20:42, 8 September 2010 (UTC)
Mahjongg uses poly-meter parts, combining poly-rhythmic sections into larger structures to make unique patterns. Not unlike the so-called "snake-time" rhythm invented by Moondog. They compose beats algorithmically with fractal and statistical models using generative techniques. All 'funk' parts are just a normal part of their repertoire, downbeat, etc. The proportion of the pattern is the focus. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.165.12.118 (talk) 20:24, 21 September 2010 (UTC)
