Okay as with Talk:Magnae Carvetiorum, I'd like to know why this page was moved to "Magnae Dobunnorum". There is as far as I can tell, absolutely no good authority for this title at all. Pasicles (talk) 23:12, 12 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Let's keep discussion at Talk:Magnae Carvetiorum for both articles. — Sam Sailor 19:25, 18 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
An admin needs to notified and the article moved back to its original name - there is ZERO primary or secondary source support for the current name. Cagwinn (talk) 22:53, 11 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I have asked User:LlywelynII, who made the move, to comment at Talk:Magnae Carvetiorum. Andrew Dalby 13:23, 2 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Magnae Dobunnorum

[edit]

It was time to provide a reliable source for "Magnae Dobunnorum", I thought, and also for the translation "The Greats of the Dobunni", whatever that's supposed to mean. It is often said that this name "Magnis" had a Celtic origin (I said that myself a while back at Talk:Magnis (Carvoran)): there is also the possibility that it is a Latin neuter plural, "Magna [castra]" "big army camp". Early antiquarians thought that see footnote on this page. Where the idea came from that it's feminine plural, it would be good to know. The addition of"Dobunnorum" also needs support.
