Wiki Education assignment: 2021-22 TCOM WikiMed Directed Studies

[edit]

This article was the subject of a Wiki Education Foundation-supported course assignment, between 28 February 2022 and 25 March 2022. Further details are available on the course page. Student editor(s): ChefJeffLi (article contribs). Peer reviewers: Amit.agg318.

My current workplan assessment: Each fact is currently referenced with a reference, but not all of them are currently and appropriately reliable. I plan on improving upon that by searching PubMed for information that can be used. The information in the current article is relevant to the topic and is presented in a neutral stance. The information comes from sources that are mostly neutral, with the exception of the article from The Atlantic. The bias is not noted but that is because the information that it is being referenced to is neutral. Viewpoints that are underrepresented (and need improvement) are the things that are lacking, such as pros/cons to MST, mechanism of action, side effects, cost, etc. These are the sections I will try to prioritize, especially the mechanism of action and pros/cons, as I believe this is what will help others compare MST to ECT. I will decide if they are to be included if there is sufficient evidence backing up the information from a reputable source. I may embed additional links to other Wiki pages, such as possible imaging being used, side effects that may have their own Wiki pages, etc. I will ensure avoidance of medical jargon by proof-reading and having another pair of eyes on my edits before publishing.
