Magellan search
[edit]During early Internet years, there was also a Magellan search engine, through http://www.mckinley.com (now a different site). -Mardus 18:45, 26 May 2007 (UTC)

Magellan → Magellan (disambiguation) – Magellan should redirect to Ferdinand Magellan as WP:PRIMARYTOPIC. Sharper {talk} 20:52, 25 October 2019 (UTC)
- Support I think this is a clear candidate for a primary redirect.ZXCVBNM (TALK) 22:02, 25 October 2019 (UTC)
- Weakly support I always worry that these sort of moves end up being based around personal biases of what we are most familiar with ("I think of the explorer for Magellan, the painter for Picasso, but not the painter for Turner"), so this is a weak !vote. But I don't believe there are other pages that would challenge this as the primary, and the explorer is certainly referred to by his last name alone very often.--Yaksar (let's chat) 03:27, 26 October 2019 (UTC)
- Support I actually set up a WP:DABTEST for this a while back, because I also thought this should probably be a primary redirect situation. Results here. ~50% of readers landing at the dab page clicking through to Ferdinand Magellan may not sound that convincing, but keep in mind that (per BarrelProof's comment quoted at WP:DABTEST) a sizeable chunk of readers who land at a dab page leave without clicking through to any of the links, so I suspect that significantly more than half of users who click through to some topic from the dab page are clicking on the explorer. Also, numerous precedents for primary redirects for first or last names when the subject is often referred to by that name alone (even if the name is ambiguous), e.g. Galileo, Byron, Copernicus, Shakespeare, Shelley, etc. Colin M (talk) 17:42, 26 October 2019 (UTC)
- Support per nomination, ZXCVBNM, Yaksar and Colin M. Every entry at the disambiguation page (other than the two other individuals) stems from the explorer's surname. —Roman Spinner (talk • contribs) 00:29, 27 October 2019 (UTC)

- Support. Clearly primary topic. Although Columbus seems to be in a similar predicament. Walrasiad (talk) 04:29, 30 October 2019 (UTC)
- Support. Clear primary redirect. Very commonly referred to just by his surname. -- Necrothesp (talk) 14:17, 30 October 2019 (UTC)

Magellan TV
[edit]No link for a Magellan TV wiki article, or am I missing it?
I wanted to know if it's the same thing as CuriosityStream (was it renamed/sold/merged/whatever) into that? Or is it completely different? Either way is it still a thing? If so, is it a thing on AppleTV? Yes, I always do due diligence before subscribing to anything.
But no info here. No wiki, no watchey.
Magellan (Movie)
[edit]Is there a reason for not mentioning the Magellan Movie from 2017? https://www.imdb.com/title/tt5361488/ Manorainjan 10:41, 5 February 2023 (UTC)
