Madsenius, an informal name for Allosaurus "jimmadseni"
[edit]The page http://staff.washington.edu/eoraptor/Carnosauria.htm notes that the type species for "Madsenius" was going to be "Madsenius trux", as indicated by Olshevsky (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/paleo_bio_dinosaur_ontology/message/6655). However, there is no word on the status of "Madsenius", and so I'm suggesting that "Madsenius" may represent an individual of Allosaurus "jimmadseni". —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 72.194.116.63 (talk) 01:42, 3 January 2007 (UTC).
This page needs a Taxobox, doesn't it? "Madsenius" belongs to the kingdom Animalia, phylum Chordata, class Sauropsida, superorder Dinosauria, order Saurischia, suborder Theropoda, infraorder Tetanurae, superfamily Carnosauria, family Allosauridae. The Wyomingraptor page also needs a Taxobox. 72.194.116.63 15:39, 12 April 2007 (UTC) Vahe Dermirjian 08.38 12 April 2007
- It's a nomen nudum, though, and we've decided not to have those for nomina nuda . J. Spencer 22:27, 12 April 2007 (UTC)
- Also Canosauria is not a superfamily, usually considered an infraorder. Superfamilies must end in -oidea. I think we're (maybe it's just me?) bucking Benton on his odd abandonment of most theropod infraorders and his giving that rank to the classic unranked clade Tetanurae.
