Not the first privately owned opera and theater company in Europe
The article originally stated:
- "Madlenianum Opera and Theatre is the first privately owned opera and theater company in Europe."
First of all, this is not true. See Rupert D'Oyly Carte, Glyndebourne Festival Opera, Carl Rosa Opera Company, for example. All were/are privately owned opera companies and the first two also owned/own their own theatre. Secondly, the Madlenianum Opera and Theatre web site says is that it is:
- "the first private opera theatre not only in Serbia but also in the wider region of the south-east part of Europe." [1]
I have changed the opening sentence to reflect that and added a {{fact}} tag. This article needs reliable sources, independent of the subject, to verify the claims made and to establish notability. Voceditenore (talk) 05:49, 11 April 2009 (UTC)
- Well, i agree, but none of them had their own theatre building. Madlenianum bought old theatre in Zemun, and transformed it into Opera and Theatre. But i will change. Tadija (talk) 16:53, 13 April 2009 (UTC)
- Actually that's not true, Glyndebourne has had its own theatre since 1934. D'Oyly Carte owned the Savoy Theatre. I've copy-edited the article extensively and removed the flags. These are unencylopedic and unnecessary. The non-Serbian works link to their own WP articles. For the others, it is best to add the actual information in prose. I've also removed the excessive linking to the subject's web site. Three times in the article is more than enough. What this article needs are independent, verifiable references that back up the claims made – not more links to their own web site. Voceditenore (talk) 20:03, 28 April 2009 (UTC)
