Donovan

I have doubts about Maddy befriending Donovan Leitch. Is there any evidence for this? Ogg 19:06, 27 May 2005 (UTC)

I notice that all the input to the article "Mac MacLeod" is anonymous, and that the only reference on the web to an association between Maddy and Donovan is a single album sleeve. I am deeply sceptical about a duo called "Mac and Maddy". Ogg 12:02, 1 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Is Maddy a musician?

I created most of this article, and I am a great admirer of her works but .... she's not a musician. She has never played any instrument other than a tambourine, or for a few seconds a tabor. So she's not a musician. I don't think she should have the category "English Folk Musician".Ogg 10:15, 30 July 2006 (UTC)

I concur -- she's not an instrumentalist, but she is a musician. Question: when she sings, is it music?

Happy Families

I see that the link to the album "Happy Families" is spurious - the link goes to an album by somebody else. Since the current link is called "Happy Families (album)", this raises the question, What should the Maddy Prior album link be called? Would it be "Happy Families (Maddy Prior album)"? rejoining Steeleye Span in 1999

This would appear to be factually incorrect, as Maddy did not return to the lineup until the 2002 comeback tour, and the release of the 'Present' album. Trvia removed

The powers that be have decided that Steeleye Span is allowed to have a "Trivia" section, but Maddy is not allowed. So I have promoted 3 of the items, and deleted two. for the completists amongst you here is the full list, as was:

• Maddy's father, Allan Prior, was co-creator of the police drama Z-Cars
• Allan Prior also wrote "Stookie", a 6-part series for television, about a boy with his arm in a sling. Maddy sang the title song, which was released as a single in 1985. It reappeared on the Steeleye Span album "Rarities 1972 - 96".
• According to urban myth, comic book writer Chris Claremont named the X-Men character Madelyne Pryor after her.
• In his album, High Strung Tall Tales, Adrian Legg relates that he wrote the song The Pregnant Folk Singer about Maddy Prior, who was pregnant at the time, while he was touring with Steeleye Span.
• Maddy is on the road with the Carnival Band in May 2007 on their "Music for Tavern and Chapel" tour. They will be celebrating the 300th anniversary of one of the key influences on their work, Charles Wesley.

I notice that "The Dillards" and "Foster & Allen" have got trivia, without any indication that they should be removed. This diktat about removing trivia applies only to English folksingers, I think. Ogg 16:50, 22 September 2007 (UTC)

Not so much of an urban myth: Claremont has used the name "Maddy Pryor" on two occasions in the early 80s, most notably with Madelyne Pryor, and I believe made a repeated in-joke to one of their lyrics (not that I could catch it). Es-won (talk) 16:13, 16 November 2008 (UTC)

Band with Rick Kemp?

According to the Steeleye Span page, "Prior and Kemp devoted much energy to their own band, recording 4 albums, and also had children together". Which albums are these?

According to this page: (http://www.gaudela.net/prior/memento.html), "Hooked on Winning" and "Going For Glory" were co-written. "Happy Families" was the third co-written (and co-sung) album. But "Happy Families" is the only album on which Rick and Maddy get equal billing (http://users.actrix.co.nz/newbery/Steeleye-Span/Albums/HF.html). "Hooked on Winning" and "Going for Glory" are credited to "The Maddy Prior Band" (Maddy Prior, Rick Kemp, Nigel Pegrum (replaced by Gary Wilson), John O'Conner (replaced by Mick Dychee) and Andy Richard (replaced by Richie Close). The Carnival Band

I'm new to Wikipedia, so I don't know the correct solution to this. If you search Wikipedia for Carnival Band, you find The Carnival Band and The Carnival (UK band) but I didn't find a Wikipedia entry for "this" Carnival Band so I provided an external link to The Carnival Band. I think your question is: What would an article on Maddy's backing band be called, if I wanted to create it? You're too late to call it "The Carnival Band" so something like "The Carnival Band (band)" or "The Carnival Band (group)" would be reasonable. Given that their only solo album is out of print, there is little point in creating such an article. New articles have to pass tests of notability (commercial hits, winning awards or becoming headlining acts at festivals). I never create an article of less than ten sentences, and I think you'd be struggling with The Carnival Band. Ogg (talk) 21:38, 10 February 2008 (UTC)
