Elevation and prominence

[edit]

Sources vary as to the elevation of the summit. The topographic map, which is generally the source of such data, gives the elevation as 1,338 meters. listsofjohn.com gives the same. peakbagger.com gives 4370 feet, 1332 meters. There was a benchmark on the summit but the datasheet is unavailable.

Both listsofjohn and peakbagger agree that the key col is below 1160 meters. Listsofjohn shows the "rise" as 600 feet. Wikipedia generally shows "clean prominence" which is generally less than "rise" (also called mean prominence). See Topographic prominence#Calculations and mathematics. So the clean prominence is 1,338 - 1160 = 178 meters. I am going to ask at peakbagger about this. –droll [chat] 21:38, 20 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
