Citations
A lot of the facts on the article seem to have flimsy evidence (such as the expired YouTube video in the "Early life and influences" section). I don't know where it was first used, but that section should probably be reverted. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.79.156.104 (talk) 06:01, 15 January 2013 (UTC)

Macklemore's apparel
I think their should be a section for Macklemore's apparel. He has made multiple songs strictly on the topic and an important part of who he is. Unfortunately since I can't edit the page myself I want to give people who can some suggestions. I've been to a few of Macklemore's concert, and at one of them he addressed the issue about shoes such as "Air Jordan" and were he stands on the culture. In summary, he said he likes wearing expensive sneakers as well, but he has to go mix it up with some clothes from the thrift shop so he can look different. His unique style defines who he is as a person and as an artist. I also think their should be an in depth analysis on his lyrics "Wings" and "thrift shop", since those two songs address the topic. If you would like to see what else I had to say on the matter, check my page.
Sincerely,

Unclear lede
"... making Macklemore & Ryan Lewis the first duo in the chart's history to have their first two singles both become a #1 single, and the first to do so without being signed to a major record company in almost 20 years"
This sentence is unclearly worded. I believe it should be changed to "...making Macklemore & Ryan Lewis the first duo in the chart's history to have their first two singles both reach #1, and the first to have a #1 single without being signed to a major record company in almost 20 years." — Preceding unsigned comment added by 193.67.17.36 (talk) 19:45, 31 May 2013 (UTC)

Pronunciation added
I've added the pronunciation of "Macklemore". I used both IPA and respell to make it more accessible and understandable for readers. I think the respell will be particularly of use in this case because the name is commonly mispronounced, and IPA is quite, err, interesting to figure out for the first time. — Preceding signed comment added by Cymru.lass (talk • contribs) 20:00, 23 June 2013 (UTC)
pronunciation
Since I can't edit, maybe it would be useful if someone could include the pronunciation of his name in the article? As it's assumed that it's pronounced "mack-el-more" when in fact it is "mack-le-more". — Preceding unsigned comment added by 31.205.38.252 (talk) 07:38, 2 May 2013 (UTC)
I've heard both used on the radio. Its said in a couple of his songs but usually in such a way that its hard to pin down which pronunciation it is. -Does anyone have a reputable reference for the pronunciation? --Rushton2010 (talk) 00:43, 13 June 2013 (UTC)

"As they were among the more well-known performers in the lineup, the attendance and general crowd energy during their set was higher than that of many other acts such as the Silversun Pickups, Dia Frampton, and Chiddy Bang." should be removed or editted. Reliance on primary sources
This article relies heavily on primary sources such as Billboard charts, Youtube interviews with Macklemore, links to his agency's web site and more. I have removed some of these but there are several others. Please locate and add secondary sources like reliable newspapers, magazines and books as sources to the article before removing the primary source tag.-- — Keithbob • Talk • 20:45, 2 October 2013 (UTC)

Seperate article for awards?
A lot of musician pages have a seperate article listing awards and nominations the artist has recieved once the list gets long enough. The list of nominations on this article is fairly long and I was thinking it should be moved to a seperate article. I can do that if there is no objections and I will if no objections are made within the next few days. Thanks! Whitestorm17 (talk) 18:39, 7 December 2013 (UTC)

Personal Life/Same Love
The lyrics and theme of the song stand on their own; shouldn't we be citing facts outside of his works in the "Personal Life" section--and the content of his works in some other section? Listening to the first six (relevant) minutes of the cited interview, I think the thing to bring away is not the work itself, but how Macklemore reconciled the misogyny and homophobia of hip-hop, his Catholic upbringing, and his liberal community; and/or his fear of backlash from the hip-hop community and how that's how he knew he must be right.
What I'm driving at is that the sentence, "Macklemore voiced his support of LGBT rights and same-sex marriage in the song "Same Love", which also condemns homophobia in mainstream hip-hop, society, and mass media" sounds entirely out of place in this section, and should be completely rewritten to actually reflect his personal life.
Maybe something like: "Macklemore has challenged the hip-hop community for accepting oppressive themes of misogyny and homophobia, and has said that "Same Love" was born of his reconciliation of hip-hop culture, Catholicism, and a liberal upbringing."
Are there any other citations for LGBT activism on Macklemore's part?

The article says, 'His ethnicity is almost entirely Irish', which links to a interview in which he says, 'Well yeah, my heritage is Irish. Primarily Irish.' Please add the following to the personal section>
On September 29, 2018, Macklemore headlined Recovery Fest in Pawtucket Rhode Island.[1] Recovery Fest brought together over 10,000 people at a drug- and alcohol-free concert. "Whether it's a meeting or whether it's stage I rather just share my experience, strength and hope with the people," the rapper told the crowd. [2] Sionodonnell (talk) 05:13, 13 November 2018 (UTC)
- I have removed the extraneous unencyclopedic quotation though. While occasional quotations are certainly OK to provide relevant context and personal views, articles should maintain an uninvolved and dispassionate point of view (see WP:NPOV). PR statements such as the above about a person's feelings and intentions add little of encyclopedic factual value - the article should focus on verifiable encyclopedic information (and already contains several personal statements from the artist). Why are there two sections for Macklemore's albums? If both of his albums have been released independently then it makes no sense for there to be a separate "independent albums" section.27.252.136.190 (talk) 00:01, 28 March 2013 (UTC)
