Supporting material

I am loath to rate info boxes as supporting material unless of course they have an image in them. So I suspect this article will probable go no further for a long time, pity.Petebutt (talk) 18:51, 21 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Macfie, tanks, and the Landships Committee.

He wasn't a member of the Committee, and only attended the first meeting. He did draw up some plans for a tracked fighting vehicle, but they were not developed. However, he did play one important role; he persuaded some members of the Committee that any armoured vehicle should be based on caterpillar tracks, and not on wheels of large diameter. He was granted a cash award after the Great War, in recognition of his initial contribution, but his own designs had no influence on tank development. Nationality

Macfie was born in San Francisco, Nov 1881, and came to England to study in 1909. Although of Scottish descent, on a patent application of 1923 he describes himself as a citizen of the United States. Hengistmate (talk) 22:20, 4 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
