Unfounded?
[edit]Take it from me , that is EXACTLY what life in Macclesfield consists of, i have lived here for the past 23 years and i should know.
Seconded.
A Wiki should really be an edited article from users who have an intimate knowledge of the subject in question. It is highly questionable to edit first-hand information so that it fits the well-rounded middle-class readership. Mind your p`s and Q`s? How exactly does an encyclopedia deal with a genre of abuse and language? Bollocks to that. How about some context?
I've no objection to the context and content I at all, but it just needs tightening up and more detail given - for example it reads in some places as if the Macc Lads are still touring. If this is so, which members are doing it?
- Muttley McLad (band writer/frontman) is still touring a Macc Lads set with his band. Toured with Bad Manners a few months ago. Citizensmith 15:37, 3 June 2007 (UTC)
Macc Lads are not touring still. The guy earlier this year was a fake. I agree the wiki needs tidying up though. I run a fan site for this band, and spent years researching them and there work, including meeting with various band members. I will try to make this better. However language wise The Macc Lads really were not angels. I mean even some album titles are going to offend some. This is before you start mentioning there history. I mean do you leave out the court case where the band were taken to court for having a fake plastic dog poo in there shop window? Truth is middle aged church go'ers are not going to be searching for the Macc Lads are they?--Catten666 13:31, 5 August 2007 (UTC)
- Then who was this guy you claim is a fake? Are you trying to suggest that none of the other bands on the bill (all of whom were likely to know him) didn't notice he was a fake? If so how could that be? I have a photo of him performing on the tour last year. If he was not "Muttley" then who was he? Citizensmith 20:57, 6 August 2007 (UTC)
- I didnt get to the bottom of who he really was, but the rumors were he was an old roadie. He made no secret of not being the genuine article. A lot of tour flyers listed him as The Mac Lad, not the Macc Lad. One guy e-mailed me and told me that after the gig the singer said he was doing it to get the real deal to perform again. I know for a fact Muttley has turned down at least 2 gigs, each offering him over £2000 for just an hours work. I run the Old Bear's Head website and have a links with various people associated with the Macc Lads, including Muttley. 100% this was nothing to do with the Macc Lads. Last gig the Lad's did was for the Old Oxonians football club back in 1997. Since then only Muttley and Al O'Peesha have done anything Macc Lad's related, namely a few mp3's of re-released material.--Catten666 21:16, 6 August 2007 (UTC)
- The guy I saw did claim to be the real deal. Talked about why he wrote certain songs and fooled everyone there if he wasn't. Here are two (poor quality) images of him on stage. [1] [2] Citizensmith 21:40, 6 August 2007 (UTC)
- Then you were conned good and proper.[3] Is a link to some band photos, including lots of Muttley. You can see clearly it isnt the same guy. Like I said previously the rumors are he was a roadie for the band, but I've never been able to find out who.
- Possible I'm mis-remebering what he said then. To be honest, had never heard of them before that gig. Whoever he was he was good at it. Buster Bloodvessel must know who he was presumably. Citizensmith 22:00, 6 August 2007 (UTC)

I went to see this bloke in Brighton. I was really annoyed the only reason I went to the gig was to see the Macc Lads. I felt completely ripped off. He was introduced as 'Bad Manners tribute to the Macc Lads' (this was most certainly not on the advertisements for the gig) and it was some cockney bloke (so I'd be very suprised if he was ever anything to do with the Macc Lads, unless they had roadies from London). Unfortunately I didn't get a chance to question him about it as I shouted abuse it him till I was thrown out. I assume Bad Manners just wanted to get extra people to the gigs so got some fat idiot to cover a few Macc Lads songs but 'forgot' to make that clear. I bet I wasn't the only person who only went becuase it was supposed to be the Macc Lads. If I wasn't such a lazy idiot I'd try to get my money back. I get the impression that the Macc Lads wont ever tour again which is a great shame. I don't blame them mind, they must be psuhing 40's now and I doubt they can be arsed to spend an evening getting covered in mucas even if it does turn up a few grand. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 157.84.1.3 (talk) 13:15, 31 August 2007 (UTC)
- Typical of Buster Bloodvessel I'm afraid, who'd mudwrestle his own mother for a quid nowadays since his guest house business went pearshaped & left him up to his eyes in it. As things stand there is no way the Macc Lads will ever reform. Muttley and The Beater are not even on speaking terms (The Beater never forgave him for continuing the band with Al O'Peesha as a stand in). They were offered silly money to play live "Buenos Aires" for a TV show about the cultural impact of the Falklands War on the UK a year back, but it was a non-starter even though it would have meant a lot more money than they are currently used to earning in their lives right now. Shame, but there you have it. Mark_Boyle 00:47, 16 August 2007 (UTC)
- @ Mark Boyle. I am a former fan and roadie and contributor to The Bear's Head website. Your line about Beater "never forgave" Muttley for using Al O'Peesha isn't true. I was at Blackburn King George's Hall in 1991 when Al was on guitar and it was simply that Beater had walked out (again) after getting sick of it. Muttley, Stez and Beater all "reformed" for an interview in 1999 at the Ivy House pub in Macc, where I interviewed them. Al O'Peesha joined us too and there was no animosity. Beater kept leaving and coming back due to being a miserable sod and then getting good offers of cash to return. The Buenos Aires thing was mean to happen in about 2001 with the line up of Muttley, Winston Dread, Johnny Mard and Al O'Peesha but got canned after George Bush invaded Iraq a little too early for the TV performance to be topical (i.e. one week early).--Cziltang mexico (talk) 18:19, 29 July 2011 (UTC)
- Cziltang MExico, if you look at the date of that comment, you'll notice that it is from almost 4 years ago, thus it is extremely unlikely that those people are still watching, or that this conversation is still relevant. Usually, it's better to start new discussions at the bottom of the page. Also, your experience as a roadie cannot be included in the article, as it doesn't meet our guideline on reliabel sources. Comment on the cleanup tag
[edit]I didn't put it there, but I do agree with it. The article definitely needs cleaning up, especially in its structure - which is all over the place - and in its lack of encyclopedic tone. The lead section is pretty good: if the rest could match up to that, this would be a good article. Phrases like "In a rather complicated family tree that would put the Royal Family to shame" are colourful, but are for fansites and fanzines, not encyclopedias. The article also needs inline citations, so that specific claims can be verified. (Hence the "additional citations needed" tag.) 81.158.0.164 (talk) 16:41, 19 January 2008 (UTC)
Most amusing of all is that "Muttley McLadd" and "The Beater" are really called Tristan and Geoffrey LOL —Preceding unsigned comment added by 217.198.33.252 (talk) 11:04, 25 August 2009 (UTC)
