Alternate host?
[edit]The It's Ac Super Bowl is currently airing on NBC4. It's being hosted by David Zahren, a TV instructor from PG County Public Schools. Does anyone know if Mac has retired or if he was sick, or what? -Etoile 23:08, 24 June 2006 (UTC)
Mac was ill in the spring of 2006 and missed the tapings of the last two shows. So far this year he is back on the show. For the last few years he has been partially retired and only does It's Academic. He is in the office only on Wednesday. Main telephone number for the station is 202-885-4000. Mr. Music
[edit]Mac McGarry hosted "Mr. Music" on WRC (980 kilocycles/second), the NBC owned-and-operated radio station in Washington, D.C., back in the 1960s. In the 1960s, WRC had sister stations WRC-FM (93.9 megacycles/second) and WRC-TV (channel 4), also in Washington. Staff announcers appeared on all three stations and the NBC radio and television networks. The AM station was sold to Greater (N.Y.) Media in 1984. The FM station was sold when NBC got out of the radio business.

Thank You.

If it is true that Mr. McGarry has worked f/ nbc since 1950, then one might surmise that someone has figured his birthdate.

As of May 9, 2007 Mac is 80. He started working at NBC on May 14, 1950. I got his age from Bruce Martin, an assistant director at NBC Washington and the date of his arrival at NBC from Mac. I do not know his exact date of birth. Can anyone find a written source for this data? EuclidC 17:43, 10 May 2007 (UTC) Mac turned 81 on June 15, 2007. That means his date of birth is June 15, 1926. 64.210.199.233

[edit]Don't mind me, but I've no idea how Wikipedia wants stuff like that cited, so I've given up trying. There's the link if someone knows better than I. Acroyear (talk) 02:07, 13 December 2013 (UTC)
