I have “14.0 Beta (23A5286i)”. Now SU is offering “Beta 2”

[edit]

I installed a Sonoma public beta for the first time last week. Something odd is happening. Encyclopedant (talk) 23:16, 31 July 2023 (UTC). 2020 iMac (Intel)[reply]

So "Apple just released a second public beta and is offering it to you" is "something odd"? I'd say that if they only released one public beta, ever, that would be odd, and that if they released a public beta and didn't offer it to me, that would be odd, too. PWA statement - is it necessary?

[edit]

PWA is a feature that allows a richer experience when running a website as an application. For the most part, every site can be added as an application in most operating systems regardless of if the site is built with PWA support in mind; this has been the case for any system that allows adding a website as an "application". This was an intentional design of PWAs. 2607:FB91:1417:8E0F:46B:424E:9EEF:E2CD (talk) 01:10, 23 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I don't really think this feature is exactly the same as PWAs since it allows any website to be added as app, including those that were not designed with PWA in mind. I may be wrong, but I saw people talk about this somewhere. Hym3242 (talk) 02:55, 19 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

macOS Sonoma boot-bug

[edit]

Perhaps a "Known Issues" section should be added to the article to mention the recently-reported bug about Apple Silicon-based 14" and 16" MacBook Pros not being able to boot if the user has disabled the ProMotion refresh-mode, and then updates to either macOS Ventura 13.6 or Sonoma?

Definitely should have a known issues section. The dead keyboard issue seems to be prevalent as well. tharsaile (talk) 20:44, 12 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Ongoing Edit War

[edit]

There are like 3 editors trying to add "| succeeded by = macOS Sequoia" (which by the way is broken link so shouldn't be added as a link) and theres a similar number trying to remove it. No sources and no explanation by either side. Please discuss here Me Da Wikipedian (talk) 00:27, 5 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

WP:CRYSTAL. For all we know, if it's announced, it might be macOS Weed or Oxnard (neither of which have macOS trademarks in the US Patent and Trademark Office search mechanism, but neither does Sequoia).
Claims require a citation; removing a claim doesn't. And some removals have explanations in their edit comments, such as "The next os isn't released; please do not try to predict names". Guy Harris (talk) 01:48, 5 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

OS Infobox broken

[edit]

I tried to remove the official website for macOS Sonoma, because there isn't one and it now shows the this broken link (www.apple.com/macos/sonoma/,%20https://www.apple.com/it/macos/sonoma/). If anybody could fix it, that would be highly appreciated.

Fixed, along with other references to that page and other now-dead Sonoma pages. Guy Harris (talk) 20:29, 18 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
