Notable people Macdonald surname
[edit]We have a Macdonald Street in town, first time I had encountered not-capitalized D version of the name; that caused me to perform a Google search that brought me here.
That said, I noticed a couple possibly misplaced names:
Notable people with Macdonald surname Born after 1800
Captain Murdo Stewart MacDonald (1852–1938) the last Sea Baron and Lloyds Surveyor of Shipping
Born after 1950
Amy MacDonald (writer) (born 1951), American writer and journalist
Doesn't say they were "born Xxxx Macdobnald" anywhere.
Similarly, I saw some under the
Notable people with MacDonald surname Born after 1800
John Alexander Macdonald (1815–1891), first Prime minister of Canada, usually referred to as John A. Macdonald.
Born after 1900
John Macdonald (rower) (1908–1982), New Zealand rower
and
Ross Macdonald (1915–1983), pseudonym of the American-Canadian writer Kenneth Millar
I don't know the history to know whether these names are in the proper category but miscapitalized or if they were born one name and recapitalized it later. I am therefore not qualified to change anything in the article, and can only point up the apparent miscategorization. Lytzf (talk) 05:20, 2 July 2016 (UTC)
MENDE?
[edit]The first section of this article is entitled "MENDE." What does that mean? Is it an acronym? We don't seem to have an article for it. I can't find anything in Google. Can we either explain this title, or replace it with one that means something. Chuntuk (talk) 16:45, 25 January 2017 (UTC)
- Answered my own question. Looks like it was vandalism from April 2016 that nobody's noticed since: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Macdonald&oldid=717046003 Chuntuk (talk) 16:55, 25 January 2017 (UTC)

Mainly Scottish
[edit]McDonald originated in Scotland, not Ireland, so why is it described as being Irish AND Scottish? Virtually everybody called McDonald is either Scottish or of Scottish descent.
Too many Scottish names are being described as Scottish AND Irish simply because some Scottish people moved to Ireland a few hundred years ago. Ses102 (talk) 17:17, 24 November 2022 (UTC)
