Citing hardware

The way the hardware is reported in the table is not completely consistent. For some parts (e.g. graphic card) the precise model is given (say Nvidia GeForce 8xxx), while no information is provided for the other components. E.g., it would be better the say: intel T7xxx processor than 2.4Ghz processor, since the clock speed is far from being an exhaustive parameter. The same for hard drive, memory, mobo etc. BTW I do not know where this info can be gathered. I was a bit surprised to see how updated this article is, while no detailed information is usually provided for most of laptop series. --gala.martin (what?) 23:50, 4 January 2008 (UTC)

Multi Touch

There is no mention of the most user noticable feature of the Feb 2008 revision of the MacBook Pro, the multi touch trackpad. Flamejob (talk) 08:19, 29 February 2008 (UTC)

External Display Resolutions

Brightness?

Some early models (serial numbers starting below W8610) had a screen hum emitting from the right side of the machine present when display brightness was set somewhere between maximum and minimum brightness.

This says to me, that "As long as the screen is on, you'll hear a hum on the right side of the screen on early MacBook Pros". This needs changing, because it sounds silly. Douglas C (talk) 10:00, 7 April 2008 (UTC)

Spec Table Change Proposal

I would like to propose that we change the orientation for the specifications table or change it to a specifications list like that of the PowerBook pages and the iBook page. As Apple continues to release new MacBook Pro models, we're going to see either columns get mushed or horizontal scrolling becoming necessary. Please discuss. I don't like the way the tables are done on the older articles, since they're essentially messy lists. Once things get a bit bloated on the MacBook articles it could easily be done where the older models are removed from the tables and the information arranged more as you propose. Prices

Althrough I believe the Base Price is relevent, I do not think having prices inline for each model fixes with WP:NOPRICES. I have removed the inline prices from the article. NightKhaos (talk) 12:17, 29 July 2008 (UTC)

Why is the price "as of"-date in the infobox changed so often? First "$1999 (As of February 26, 2008)", then "July 1, 2008", then "July 25, 2008"... Why change the date when the price is the same, not higher nor lower? 85.166.2.82 (talk) 13:47, 12 August 2008 (UTC)

Maybe because people want to be all powerful and say "look, I edited this page!"... but also to prove to the user that that is actually the current price of the product. NightKhaos (talk) 15:14, 12 August 2008 (UTC)

multi touch

To me, this article makes it sound like multi touch is available on all MacBook Pros.

" ... The MacBook Pro features a back-lit keyboard with an ambient light sensor and a Multi-Touch (previously scrolling) trackpad standard across the line. ..."

Aside from being able to do 2 finger scrolling and stuff in the older MacBook Pros, I think only the 2008 (Gen. 4) models actually have true multi touch like the MacBook Air does. Article re-write

I retract what I said in the above suggestion topic. I think the article needs a complete rewrite in the vein of the PowerBook G4 article, separating the aspects of the discrete construction and the unibody construction models the way the TiBook and the AlBook are separated. Hard drive replacement

The article mentions that the replacing a hard drive in a Penryn and earlier requires a 'complete disassembly of the system'. This is not true; taking the top case off will suffice. Ilja Nieuwland (talk) 21:13, 16 October 2008 (UTC)

It requires removing twenty-nine screws (if my quick count is correct) according to ifixit.[1] "taking the top case off" is perhaps a wee bit of an over-simplification. AlistairMcMillan (talk) 13:02, 29 October 2008 (UTC)

Latest model shared memory

The table with information on the latest model states that the 9400M shares 256Mb of GDDR3 memory with the main memory. Shouldn't the part "of GDDR3 SDRAM" be removed from that sentence? It shares 256 Mb with the main memory, which is not GDDR3. Mr obb (talk) 18:15, 19 November 2008 (UTC)

Quality Problems

The quality problems is this huge section at the top that makes it appear that these machines are complete lemons or something. This section needs to contain the ACTUAL AMOUNT of Macs truly affected by these "quality problems" to put these issues into proper perspective and make this section remotely encyclopedic instead of a just a POV "hit piece".

I find it interesting how things are brought up about how difficult it is to replace the battery, etc. without mentioning that's one of the tradeoffs of having one of the lightest and thinnest laptops (of its class) in the world (which also is strangely missing from this article). Also, how at the time of some models releases it was the fastest laptop in the world to run Vista, etc. All these issues are prominently displayed that affected a very small percentage of MacBook Pros, but a huge thing like running Vista faster than any other laptop is completely left out??? Very telling.

Is this an encyclopedia entry or a hit piece against Macs? Aspects of this article were obviously written by those with an agenda against Apple and the distortions of the "quality" only make this article a weak entry that slants its readers from the facts. I've removed the entire section. I was trying to improve it, but there wasn't really anything there to improve. If readers want to hear about every problem that every Macbook user ever experienced there are websites out there for them. Wikipedia is not that website.
