Ma-ayon, CapizMaayon – Both the WP:COMMONNAME (or common spelling) and the OFFICIAL spelling of the name of the municipality is Maayon without the hyphen as evidenced by the official municipal seal found in its website. This spelling is also supported by the signage at its municipal hall. RioHondo (talk) 12:26, 29 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

MaayonMa-ayon – Per discussion at Baliuag (Talk:Baliuag#Requested move 22 June 2020), titles do not need to necessarily follow official names. According to WP:NAME — '"Wikipedia does not necessarily use the subject's "official" name as an article title; it generally prefers the name that is most commonly used (as determined by its prevalence in a significant majority of independent, reliable English-language sources) as such names will usually best fit the five criteria...." And it appears that "Ma-ayon" fulfills WP:COMMONNAME, not to mention that the law that established this municipality in the 1950s — https://thecorpusjuris.com/amp/legislative/republic-acts/ra-no-1203.php — spells it as "Ma-ayon."

Among the sources:

Most sources using Maayon are recently published, probably formatting after this article's title. And it has been established, through Baliuag's page move, that laws establishing municipalities take dominance over the spelling being promoted by the municipalities themselves, especially if they have no legal backing.
