Citadel
[edit]This paragraph was added by an IP editor, and removed by Eik Correll - This rescue highlights, perhaps as never before, the importance of a 'citadel', where a ship's crew can retreat, for 24 hours if necessary, after activating alarms which may - and here did - result in rescue. Plainly, the citadel needs discreet ventilation, water, food, communication equipment, and, ideally, more. It is vital that all crew be gathered into the citadel in good time.
OK, it needs a rewrite, but this document should prove useful in accomplishing this. The article is being fairly heavily edited at the moment as it's on the Main Page. I'll probably leave it until tomorrow before I attempt to rewrite it. Mjroots (talk) 20:01, 6 May 2010 (UTC)
Name in Russian
[edit]The ship carries the name Moscow University but is also referred to as Moskovsky Universitet. I tried inserting the name in Cyrillic letters but it rendered as something completely different to what I was expecting. Can anyone sort this one out? Mjroots (talk) 20:48, 6 May 2010 (UTC)
Gender
[edit]Ordinarily, I'd comment about the removal of "she" in favour of "the ship" with a comment that ships are, indeed, gendered in common language usage, and WP:SHIPS standards allow for either "neutral" or "gendered" language. However...I distinctly recall that Russian ships are usually referred to - at least by Russians, anyway - as he. So it's probably better to use the neutral here. ;) - The Bushranger Return fireFlank speed 00:14, 7 May 2010 (UTC)
- Ah yes, I'd forgotten about that. Concur with the change on this occasion. Mjroots (talk) 08:01, 7 May 2010 (UTC)
It can be either. :) Korbal' (ship) is a he, while Posudina (vessel) is a she. Tanker is a he though. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 162.106.3.19 (talk) 18:10, 28 March 2012 (UTC)
Pirates
[edit]A source at the Ministry of Defence of Russia said that tempered pirates were unable to reach the shore and died in the sea: [1], [2] (rus) Luch4 (talk) 10:53, 11 May 2010 (UTC)
