Removed internal inconsistency

[edit]

The article previously said:

Her operational time with Red Funnel came to an end towards the end of 1968, although she stayed in their ownership for a further twenty years. Balmoral moved to the Bristol Channel on charter to P&A Campbell's famous White Funnel Fleet, later being purchased by them and becoming the last working member of their fleet until 1980. Balmoral was sold by P&A Campbell to Dundee to become a floating restaurant. This was unsuccessful and the ship was placed for sale again.

Thus if this is true, then Red Funnel continued to own Balmoral until 1988. As P&A Campbell went out of business in 1981, they could never have owned her, nor could they have sold her 'to Dundee' in 1980. Red Funnels web site is quite definitive that her last sailings for them were in 1968, she was 'withdrawn' in 1969 and sold to P&A Campbell. It doesn't explicitly say the sale was in 1969. So I have rewritten the paragraph as follows and added a cite.

Her operational time with Red Funnel came to an end towards the end of 1968, after which she was acquired by P&A Campbell. Balmoral moved to the Bristol Channel, where she became part of P&A Campbell's famous White Funnel Fleet until 1980, by which time she was the last working member of the fleet. Balmoral was sold by P&A Campbell to Dundee to become a floating restaurant. This was unsuccessful and the ship was placed for sale again.

This has the advantage of not explicitly saying when the sale took place. If you can find a source for an actual sale date, please update. -- chris_j_wood (talk) 12:27, 22 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
