Merger proposal
[edit]I propose that Cancún Underwater Museum be merged into MUSA, El Museo subaquàtico de Arte. These articles are about the exact same topic, but one has the English name and one has the Spanish name. Both articles contain "see also" references early on the page, but the articles are virtually identical in scope and thus the pointers are useless. As the Spanish name is the museum's official name, this is what should be used. (Please note I am not a representative of the museum, I just happened to read about it and noticed the identical articles.) -Etoile ✩ (talk) 19:15, 26 July 2017 (UTC)
- Oppose merger of Cancún Underwater Museum here; instead, this article should become a redirect to that one. This article was created via AfC in November 2011, when the article with the English title already existed, (albeit as a tiny stub). It should not have been accepted. Cancún Underwater Museum has the interwikis, and has several references that refer to it by the English name. This article is the regrettable duplication of effort, not that one. - Perfectly fair - would it be reasonable of me to redo this merger request in the other direction? I'm not familiar enough with the nuances of Wikipedia management to know what the right thing to do is - I just saw articles with identical content and thought they should be combined. :) -Etoile ✩ (talk) 20:34, 26 July 2017 (UTC)
- I see now that it wasn't done through AfC; I misunderstood the "new unreviewed article" header. At least one of the references - National Geographic - is duplicated, but there appear to be references in this article that are not in Cancún Underwater Museum. I've been having trouble with my internet connection, and I remember that there was a lot of promotional material in the other article when I worked on it, so it will take a while, but I think if my connection turns out to be stable, I will do the merger to that other article. I've dropped a note to Ocean-bio, who created this article. Yngvadottir (talk) 04:52, 27 July 2017 (UTC)
