Regarding the references
[edit]Direct references are absent due to documents were taken out from the flat to unknown direction when the owner of the confirmed papers was in the sea voyage. The following were taken out:
- ship's crew lists (anybody can check crew list in mentioned ports by the dates)
- one copy of the black preliminary copies of Sea Protest where was mentioned all collision details
It is why will try to confirm by other documents:
- Copy of the pages from the Labour Book of junior officer. I will post this information later
- Appraisal, i.e. gathering all information relevant to the contemplated voyage or sea passage[1] from the Navigation Notebook of the junior officer. Every deck officer had to describe and explane other officers about a part of the sea route before entering this area. On board of Toyvo Antikaynen were 3 deck officers and master. It is why any voyage route was devided 3 parts ussualy. Can be some more
- Ship's particulars re-writen from the Ship's Specification. I will post this information later
- Some photos. Can be some photos more later
- Copies of pages from the Vaccination Book of junior officer. I will post some more later
- And to read the mentioned down articles of Wikipedia.
If anybody does not believe he can check himself. For example:
- To check information on Halifax Hill if it is not secret information there.
- To ask Oostende port regarding collision in 1985 at Oostende bank. Can be it was not mentioned as an avaria due to damages were about nothing due to propelly manouvre as per captain Gitchenko orders.
- To try found out surveyors regarding collision metters.
- To check by crew lists is this ship visited mentioned ports during mentioned period.
- To ask the crew members, who still alive, about ports of visit, collision and others.
Regarding personal adventures and thoughts you can be belive only. It is as per memories of the junior officer.
This was on another ship of the same Kommunist class in 1983. The junior officer was a cadet on that ship in 1983.
[edit]Fishing at discharge port.
[edit]Fridrich Engels arrived at Havana in 1983 and due to the turn the ship asked permition to drop the anchor at the Cay Sal bank that was far from the Havana and good for fishing. Cuban authorities permitted to drop the anchot at mentioned band and the ship was anchored in the South part of the Cay Sal bank, close to Cuba. The fishing was very good. The cre members caught barracudas mostly and the had of each barracuda was cutted immediately when the fish was hoisted on the deck. This kind of fish can be dagerouse if the had of fish will not cut immediately. The barracuda has nickname "sea dog" due to this fish has good thooth and easy can cut the smaller fish. And, the crew members also caught other kinds of fish without fishtail and still alive. The sea water was crystalline and was possible to see how the barracuda run to catch a smaller fish.

The vessel arrested
[edit]The crew of the arrested ship Toivo Antikainen was breathing fumes in Calcutta, in anticipation of the ship's scrapping and salary for two years. Toivo Antikainen was moored at the mooring buys near the shore. To him chalilis Other ships from Around the World moored alongside on arrival for scrapping. The crews left the doomed ships and rats, striped and spotted Exotic, ran from deserted ships to the ship signed to Odessa port. Like pterodactyls flying mutant mice with a wingspan of up to six meters tried to reach Toivo at dusk. The vessel was glowing like a frying pan: crew slept on the covers of the holds, wet sheets dried out in half an hour. Mosquitoes bited mercilessly. When one kind of parasites disappeared the others annoyed according to the season. Insect-torturers handed over showily and the crew of the arrested ship had not change. We were using an inflatable raft to reach the shore as we had to beg from ships or to pull teeth by pliers of local medicaster for nothing. But shell of the life-rafts corroded by the floating oil in abundance on the surface.
When "the knocks on the door" of the captain of "Toivo Antikainen" Albert Makeev reached the Embassy of Ukraine, that was located in Delhi on one of the floors of high-rise hotel, diplomats complained about the cramped conditions and domestic difficulties. Hungry fainting increased and the captain sent SOS to all passing close ships on the 27 of December 1997: "The crew completed to eat the boat's supply of provisions. There is no fresh water, fuel and medicines on board". The distress signal was not sent by the ship perishing in the ocean, it was sent by the ship moored a hundred yards from shore. It was an unprecedented case. The Harbour Master responded only the SOS. The crew received a modest amount for food and money was enough for short time. It was the last SOS of Black Sea Shipping Company and soon Toyvo was sold at auction, scrapped and her name disappeared from the reports of marine newspapers for ever. Toivo Antikainen agonized in 1996-1997 when Black Sea Shipping Company was particularly shock exceeded the plan to deliver the scrap metal: 59 ships were taken out of service from August 1995 to March 1997.[2]
