Class Supercar
[edit]Its not a supercar. It was never in full production so its a prototype or concept. Furthermore, even if it were in production it still would not be a supercar. A supercar is more than just looks and performance. It has to be made by a supercar maker, ie: Ferrari, Lamborghini, Porsche, etc. Vaccari & Bosi and MG Rover are not supercar makers and never have been, even if it is based on Qvale Mangusta, as that is not a supercar either, only the name name Mangusta comes from old De Tomaso Mangusta, it was not made by De Tomaso. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.19.157.52 (talk) 16:21, 30 March 2008 (UTC)
The above is not exactly a water-tight argument for what is and isn't a supercar. Koenigsegg and Pagani both definatley supercars but have very little pedigree behind them. MG, however, have a LeMans racing history. LewisR (talk) 22:52, 11 April 2008 (UTC)
It was made in Italy by people who didn't work for MG Rover, it was available with anywhere up to 1000 bhp, and it was made in extremely small numbers. This car meets every possible definition of supercar and the small production numbers and high price act in support of that status rather than against it. The stratospherically high price tag of 150 grand was 10 grand more than the MSRP of the Ford GT, which is by any definition a supercar.
Who died (besides their Nazi benefactors) and made Porsche a supercar maker? They started out making tractors and modified Volkswagen Beetles, their styling department was axed 40 years ago, and they now make an overpriced roadster, and a hideous off-roader. - I don't much like the looks of those cars myself, but can we stay away from homophobic comments, please? For what it's worth, I think "supercar" is such a vague term anyway that we're better off avoiding it altogether - except, of course, where a source has used the term themselves. Merger proposal
[edit]Most of the MG X-Power WR article actually covers the SV and hence duplicates this article. I suggest the WR could and should be covered in this article. Letdorf (talk) 13:03, 24 July 2009 (UTC).
- Since there have been no objections, I've now done this. Letdorf (talk) 20:44, 4 January 2010 (UTC).
