There was a 20-fold increase in page views yesterday (26/5/16). That's not surprising given the rate this plasmid is spreading.McortNGHH (talk) 17:10, 27 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Mcr-1 gene name

[edit]

What does mcr-1 name stand for? Tavilis (talk) 09:38, 1 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

It stands for mobilized colistin resistance gene. The wording of the first sentence is incorrect because the term isn't the designation for a mechanism; it is the name for a gene carried on a plasmid that can be transfered thus spreading resistance among a species of bacteria. Chinese authors frequently get the terminology wrong and not all journals are well edited. All caps MCR-1 is incorrect. The Emerging Infectious Disease (CDC) article is correct in the terminology. So the title probably needs changing to something like "mcr-1 colistin resistance gene" - with mcr-1 small and italized.https://wwwnc.cdc.gov/eid/article/23/2/16-1543_article JuanTamad (talk) 02:20, 28 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Change title

[edit]

If there's no objection, can someone who knows how change the title to mcr-1 colistin resistance gene. I tried, but its not simple with italics in the title. I couldn't get anything to work within allotted time.JuanTamad (talk) 03:58, 29 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
