I took it upon myself to clear up some minor grammar errors (mostly comma usage) and re-work a couple sentences that needed clarification. I also think we should try and dredge up some more sources for this article, especially since e-texts of old military manuals shouldn't be terribly difficult to find. Thanks for the clean up. My strong point on WP is past knowledge when I wrote defence articles and the massive amount of reference material I still have (floors are buckling in my office <GRIN>). But as when I wrote I have terrible editing and grammar skills. And for that reason I had to hire interns at local papers to edit the article before I turned it in. As for ole military manuals, the one that is needed I don't have is the "U.S. Marine Guide Book" 1964 edition. I had a copy and loaned it out. We all know what happens when you loan a book out by mail. I found another copy on Ebay. Hopefully my bid wins. If not the article will have to stand unless another editor has a copy. Note - I got a copy of that Marine manual for ten bucks - ie which is astonishing as most are selling for $75 bucks. Will be able to add on references and even some photos later. Btw, you have any knowledge of the Oto Melara 76mm Compact cannon (ie sometimes called the Otobreda 76mm Compact cannon). That is my next project they asked me to work on. And if an administrator or one of the long term editors ask you to look over an article for a major re-write and you find out it is a translation of another language WP article: RUN! No problem, I'm glad to help. Wow, that's insanely cheap! I did a bit of hunting online to see if I could find a torrent of it, but no such luck. I even saw it for sale for $100, so you're very fortunate indeed! Hmm, I actually don't know anything about that cannon (well, I probably will once I Google it in about 5 minutes), but I'll definitely take a stab at working on the article. Welcome aboard. You can find the Otobreda 76mm Compact sandbox here. Make sure you click the discussion page. That is where I post information that others have found for me till I can in-corporate it. As with many articles I research on and re-edit, it results in my having to basically post two other articles that link to it (ie if you have a chance check out [[ERC 90 Sagaie|this one] which was one of the first they asked me to improve on the original WP:Fr article. Check the article history around December 2009 to see how much Dave and I had to do to bring it up to snuff. For example the naval cannon in that article is a direct decedent of the OTO-Malera 76/62mm Allargato. There is nothing in the Google searches. I even checked the Italian language (WP) Wikipedia. Zippo! But I have some old 1960s and 70s Aviation & Marine International and one Jane's that list it. I got a sandbox up on it. Have to post that first. I will immediately let you know, so you can correct my awful editing and grammar skills. When you cross check on the original Otobreda 76 mm article don't forget the sandbox I linked to. Because it will eventually take out that whole article. I found the hard way, when it is a translation that is the only way to go. One big problem for most small articles like the sub-article on the Allargato it is find photos you can post to the article I found one of the Allargato on an Italian corvette. Lucked out. You will learn that WP is like the Spanish Inquisition on the posting of photos directly in the article -- ie you can use ex. images to sort of get around it. They got sued over some idiot contributor in Tennessee that p*ssed in the whole soup. Last, I have a Wiki Fanatic dogging me now. They come and go. He is upset because they deleted some articles he wrote and copyrighted photos - ie which I had nothing to do with. So he is now playing "THE ENFORCER OF THE RULES!" game deleting stuff for any minor infraction. If you come across one, they usually tire and leave after a while. Hey Jack, I've been pretty busy lately, and I haven't had a chance to get on WP much. I had to re-install Windows, and it seems to be working well for now, so I should be able to start getting back into the flow of things around here. That being said, I'll make sure to take a look your OtoBreda Cannon sandbox page and point out any copy-editing issues I find. By the way, the "wiki-fanatic" sounds highly annoying. Sorry to hear that. Don't these people have better things to do than lurk on WP and harass people who are just trying to get some work done? If only the internet had a "punch this person in the face" button for every user...
