Locomotive hauled?

[edit]

Were these trainsets hauled by locomotives? Peter Horn User talk 20:13, 24 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

OK, "motrice" is best translated as "motorcar", see fr:M1 (métro). I'll correct the article later. Peter Horn User talk 20:56, 24 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Unfortunately neither motorcar nor motor car will do the job. The best that I could find so far was Rail motor coach. So let us stretch it a bit, this "motrice" or "rail motor coach" has (a) traction motor(s) fed by an electric current from an external third rail instead of having an internal combustion engine on board. The article Rail motor coach tells me that the term already has been used the term in the sense that I want to use it, albeit with reference to rail vehicles with a pantograph. Peter Horn User talk 15:51, 25 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
