Was the main-line built before the A406 arrived on the scene? The carriageways were always flared, therefore it would appear that what was the M11 J3 to J4 section would have constituted merely the slip roads from A12 to M11 (via the "M15"). Exactly analogous to the situation today. Therefore the mainline of the "M15" wasn't built until 1987 as the A406.

M15 motorwayM15 motorway (Great Britain) — (see talk page) Thryduulf (talk) 15:16, 6 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Based on the statistics in the table below, it is clear that the planned but never built motorway in Great Britain is not the primary topic, with the Hungarian motorway (that was built and is/was due to get an upgrade this year) getting over four times as many google.com.au hits (search string: M15 motorway -Wikipedia; if anyone wants to verify these numbers, I'd recommend appending -Manchester as there are lots of places in the M15 postcode area of that city that have good access to the M60 and M602 motorways), and very similar page views - at least some of which will have come via the article for the British motorway. Wikipedia's coverage of British roads is more developed than it's coverage of Hungarian roads, which will account for at least some of the reason why the British road has many more incomming links.

I am proposing (Great Britain) as the disambiguator as the road is named in the Great Britain road numbering scheme, and per the reasons given previously by myself and others at Talk:M50 motorway, Talk:M18 motorway (Great Britain), User talk:Sarah777 and elsewhere. I strongly oppose any suggestion that may be made to move this to M15 motorway (England) per these reasons. Thryduulf (talk) 15:16, 6 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment: the present page will need to be a DAB page page if it is not to point back to this article. Either that or it should point to M15 motorway (Hungary). However, that page is tiny and does not DAB this page as it probably should. Jubilee♫clipman 16:00, 7 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
    • Indeed making the M15 motorway page a dab was my original intention, I should have said that. Based on current evidence there is no primary topic, but if the dab page is made primary then we should revisit the situation in a few months to see if the page views show that the Hungarian motorway is primary. If all of the viewers of the Hungarian motorway article currently come via the British motorway article, then this would leave the unbuilt motorway getting just 21 readers in August and 11 in July. It is impossible to know if this is the case based on present figures, but it is certainly possible. Thryduulf (talk) 16:19, 7 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Replace with dab page. Working on the assumption that half of visits to other pages came here first, there's no clear primacy in this case, so this should be re-evaluated later to see if the evidence supports elevating the Hungarian road instead. Also consider merging into A406 road. 81.110.104.91 (talk) 19:48, 7 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment I wouldn't oppose moving the Hungarian page to here, or redirecting this to there, with an appropriate hatnote pointing here. The fact that the Hungarian motorway is the only one that exists suggests that there is a strong case for it to be the primary topic, I suspect very few people looking for M15 motorway are looking for the non existent British one. (I have adjusted my vote accordingly) I would however oppose a merge. Jeni (talk) 01:18, 8 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
