Later Editions, Other Areas

I have a copy of the Lakeland 23rd edition (1968), and have seen a reference to the 29th, but not the date. There may be even later copies...
Baddeley also wrote guides to all the other hill-areas of GB, but again I haven't got reliable info. here.
I suspect that Baddeley was influenced by Baedeker but again have no direct info. Linuxlad 17:17, 26 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Intended Readership

Someone has added 'Mainly for the motorist or casual walker' - seems a bit hard to justify. My copy includes notes on the 24-hour fell-walking record, (up to Mr Robert Graham's exploit in 1932) and advice to a would be rock climber on easy courses on which to start., like Broad Stand... It's just a bit dated, (and mainly written pre-car) that's all, Bob aka Linuxlad (talk) 19:45, 11 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have altered this, trying not to be influenced too much by the comparison with Wainwright. It should be noted that Baddeley died in 1906, and descriptions based on later editions should be cautious in making assertions about Baddeley himself. My copy is the anonymously edited 15th edition, from around 1924/5 (the fell-walking records reach to 1922), and only pp. 232-308 cover fell-walking.
