GA review (see here for criteria)
  1. It is reasonably well written.
a (prose): b (MoS for lead, layout, word choice, fiction, and lists):
    A couple of prose issues:
    • How can something happen in the 1939s?
    • "along a bit longer route" sounds grammatically incorrect. Maybe it should be reworded.
    • A large portion of the history is choppy. Perhaps combine one or two sentences together, and mention that it is gravel before mentioning that it was decommissioned.
    • You don't have any links to MDOT.
  2. It is factually accurate and verifiable.
a (references): b (citations to reliable sources): c (OR):
How can you have a Google Maps ref to a former route? Can you rename the reference title to something applicable to today?
  3. It is broad in its coverage.
    a (major aspects): b (focused):
The route description is a little short, even for a former route. Perhaps mention what physical surroundings are in the area, etc.
  4. It follows the neutral point of view policy.
    Fair representation without bias:
  5. It is stable.
    No edit wars, etc.:
  6. It is illustrated by images, where possible and appropriate.
a (images are tagged and non-free images have fair use rationales): b (appropriate use with suitable captions):
  7. Overall:
    Pass/Fail:
I will put the article on hold for these isses.
    I will now pass the article. --PCB 15:30, 6 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  1. Typo fixed.
  2. Changed, but honestly it was fine before.
  3. Copyediting made.
  4. MDOT didn't exist until 1978, 39 years after this highway ceased to exist.
    • You still have mention to it in the last reference. --PCB 02:38, 6 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
      • I'm not sure what your point is. MDOT is wikilinked in the reference as the publisher of a modern map to support that the number is not in current use, but as a name, MDOT didn't exist when this highway did. There was the State Highway Department until the 1960s renaming to Department of State Highways and the 1974 change to Department of State Highways and Transportation, but short of shoe-horning in the name for the sake of listing the name, I don't see what the issue is. 5. That Google Map follows the route of M-74 from the 1939 MSHD map published prior to its decommissioning. The reference is used to establish the length and road names only, and the title is accurate to what it is.
  6. I can't add physical surroundings to the description of the article without committing original research. Any description based on modern satellite images or topographic maps would not necessarily be accurate for the conditions of a highway 72 years ago. There are no rivers or other physical features that can be easily assumed to remain in the same location along the route of the roadway. There are not the reliable sources to add what you suggest for the time period of the highway's existence. Imzadi 1979  19:50, 5 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
That would be true. Sorry. --PCB 02:38, 6 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
