I have just edited this article for English language errors and clarifications. The text as I found it seemed to have been literally translated from a French original.

I have also taken out the previous section on "Academical Conflict of 1830". It was very difficult to understand, quite obscure and definitely not on topic. At no point was it clear how the "conflict" fitted in with the menagerie.

Clarification on Foundation of Menagerie

Upon trying to find some citations for this article I found on the "Muséum national d'Histoire naturelle" website the year for opening the menagerie as 1794, differing slightly from this article's year of 1793. Of course, in the wiki article, it talks about the year of the foundation rather than the year of opening as the Muséum does, but it also does state "it was free for visitors and tourists right from its inception". As I have little knowledge on the topic and mainly just wanted to cite existing claims I thought it would be put this here in hopes that someone with better insight into the topic can help clarify.
