Wording Suggestions
[edit]"Mæli" translated means measure and "fell" means mountain, so it is correct to say that Mælifell translated means measure mountain but it isn't known as "measure mountain" - this is just the translation.
Since Mælifell already contains inside it the word mountain it reads strangely call it "Mount Mælifell."
Access
[edit]Mælifell can be reached by foot. It is close to the hut and campsite Strútur, which is on the multi day hiking trail called the Strútstígur. Hikers will often visit Mælifell while walking through as a side trek. 157.157.124.177 (talk) 23:25, 21 August 2018 (UTC)
- Chagned accordingly. I removed "Mount Mælifell" from the lede but kept it in the article - the composition of the word is opaque for foreigners. WikiHannibal (talk) 13:08, 22 August 2018 (UTC)
Coordinate error
[edit]{{geodata-check}}
The following coordinate fixes are needed for Maelifell. I removed the original 65.4000|N|19.3661|W from the article as it showed a different location. However, when I find the correct place on googlemaps, it shows the coordinates as 65.4,-19.3661 - when reentered to seach for the place, it finds the wrong one. It is some 35 km north of Vík í Mýrdal, where F210 makes that almost 90 degree turn around Maelifell. Can't miss it. — WikiHannibal (talk) 20:26, 6 April 2016 (UTC)
- Update - the article in English and Spanish is about one mountain some 800 m tall, and the article in Icelandish and French is about a different one, some 1100 m tall, to which the original coordinates in the English article referred. However, the English article is not about the mountain at 65.4000|N|19.3661|W so the interlanguage links should be split and the English article should display correct coordinates of the mountain it speaks of. - Thanks for noticing the problem. I've added the correct coordinates for this Maelifell, and the only linterlanguage link I see in the article is the Spanish one, so I think things are OK now. Deor (talk) 22:52, 6 April 2016 (UTC)
