Simon Goldman
[edit]There should be reference in the section on her early life to her relationship as a 16 year old with Simon Goldman, a man in his late 30s who turned out to be a questionable property developer and an associate of the notorious Perec ('Peter') Rachman (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rackmanism). This two-year episode, while still a schoolgirl, was clearly influential in her development. She has written extensively about it (e.g. http://www.guardian.co.uk/culture/2009/jun/07/lynn-barber-virginity-relationships) and a film has been made about it - http://www.guardian.co.uk/film/movie/132110/education. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.135.31.100 (talk) 09:15, 30 July 2010 (UTC)
- Added a brief passage, any additions might unbalance the article. It is not the main thing Barber is known for, even though the film will have made her more widely known. Philip Cross (talk) 10:59, 30 July 2010 (UTC)
- Really? Evidence, or unsubstantiated claim? I'd never heard of Barber until I saw the film. Now I've read about her here there seems little reason to encounter her again. The film is memorable for the story it tells of her series of abusive relationships. Ms. Barber is memorable for her self-publicising of those relationships: a sort of journalist version of Big Brother-style 'reality' TV, it seems. Perhaps that's what Ms. Barber is best known for: author and star of such entertainment. A little information about the sort of background that led to such a life would not be out of place. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.184.131.250 (talk) 19:46, 4 June 2015 (UTC)
