[edit]The current city councellor of Lyngen is Birger Hellan. He is originally from Trondheim, but moved to Lyngen in 2001. He has one child, Terje Hellan, who is an archaeology student in the before mentioned Trondheim.
Defence plans
[edit]It is not correct that "During the Cold War the Norwegian Army planned to abandon Finnmark and halt the Soviets along the European route E06 highway at the choke point between the Lyngen fjord and the mountains". There were proposals from time to time to abandon Finnmark in the event of an invasion, but this was never adopted as policy.Royalcourtier (talk) 22:23, 20 August 2016 (UTC)
Military base
[edit]A secret military base was supposedly built in Lyngen during the 1950's. Any information on this?Royalcourtier (talk) 22:23, 20 August 2016 (UTC)
