Name Pronunciation?

[edit]

Could someone (perhaps someone Swedish) add the pronunciation of "Lykke Li"? --91.206.0.169 (talk) 16:04, 24 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. Helixer (talk) 00:33, 7 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, I'm not swedish, but after listening to a number of Swedes pronouncing her name I did this sort of broad transcription. It needs to be verified by a native speaker who knows the IPA. For a native English speaker, her name is often perceived as sounding like the name Luca. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.192.128.212 (talk) 06:38, 17 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

From my understanding, the y takes the same role in Nordic languages as it does in German and Old English, that it takes the German ü sound, so my best educated guess would be to read it as "Lükke". —ᚹᚩᛞᛖᚾᚻᛖᛚᛗ (ᚷᛖᛋᛈᚱᛖᚳ) 10:40, 20 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Funny, I was irritated by the pronunciation given and decided to leave a question at the discussion page. So, I never heard the name actually pronounced, but I’d expect [ˈlʏkːə li] instead of [ˈlʏkə], since its a double <k>. Right or not? Anothername (talk) 10:56, 28 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Unfortunately I'm not sure about that fine of a detail, but otherwise, looks fine by me. —ᚹᚩᛞᛖᚾᚻᛖᛚᛗ (ᚷᛖᛋᛈᚱᛖᚳ) 08:22, 11 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
It is pronounced at least very near "LIH-key LEE", though one example I provide, it's "LEE-key LEE" (though there could be some other nuanced sound I can't hear as an English speaker). She was introduced on a number of television performances by the hosts (English speaking though they may be), always pronounced about that way. Here's an example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yOGJ1pXK-eE and another http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=48Obd9pUoQ8 and one more http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OczKMAHAVfg. However, there was a fan complaining on another YouTube video that this pronunciation is slightly (but not far) off. None of those sound anything like Luca, so people must be mangling it left and right. 24.161.16.121 (talk) 01:54, 2 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Article Needs

[edit]
  • Revised intro as per WP:INTRO
  • Expand Early Life section (education/interest in music?)
  • Career section reads too much like a summary and needs further in-line citations
  • Expand on recent release 2014
  • Artistry section needs to be expanded with genre, vocal range and instruments (if any).
  • Remixes section split out to relevant album sections.
  • Create 'Media' section for some of the tracks used in film and television.
