This looks like another excellent article on the architecture of New York by Epicgenius and is therefore likely to be close to Good Article status already. I will start a review shortly. simongraham (talk) 14:16, 22 November 2021 (UTC)
Comments
[edit]This is a stable and well-written article. 97.1% of authorship is by Epicgenius. It is currently ranked B class and a DYK nominee.
- The article is of appropriate length, 5,102 words of readable prose, plus a list of notable productions and an infobox.
- It is written in a summary style, consistent with relevant MOS.
- Citations seem to be thorough.
- References appear to be from reputable sources.
- Earwig's Copyvio Detector identifies a 18.0% chance of copyright violation with IMDB, which includes the same claim as the DYK.
- Images have appropriate licensing and either CC or public domain tags, apart from Some of the nine new theaters that will greet Manhattan pleasure seekers next season. LOC 4158726496.jpg (captioned "1903 New-York Tribune cover showing the development of some theaters in New York City, including the Lyceum (top right)") which is a Library of Congress image on Flickr. The recommendation is that the image be replaced by a higher resolution one stored at the library.
- I will replace this soon, but this appears to be of decent resolution as a thumbnail as it is now. Epicgenius (talk) 15:07, 22 November 2021 (UTC)
- There are a 31 instances of the word "productions" in the text. Is there a synonym that could be used anytime or could any of the sentences be rephrased to avoid the repetition?
- In general, "show" or "work" might function similarly, while "play", "musical", "drama", and "comedy" are more specific. I have reworded these now. Epicgenius (talk) 15:07, 22 November 2021 (UTC)
- Rephrase "All of these productions had several hundred performances, and The Gold Diggers with 720 performances." to "All of these productions had several hundred performances, with The Gold Diggers having 720."
- Done, but with slightly different wording. Epicgenius (talk) 15:07, 22 November 2021 (UTC)
- Suggest rephrasing "The theater was less financially stable after the Lyco Company had dissolved in 1938." to "The theater was less financially stable after the Lyco Company dissolved in 1938."
- Consider rephrasing "The LPC had started considering protecting the Lyceum's interior as a landmark in 1982,[ with discussions continuing over the next several years. The LPC designated the interior as a landmark in December 1987." to remove the repeated LPC, interior and landmark.
- Done. I have to specify that this was an interior-only landmark designation. For all the other (literal) landmark Broadway theaters designated in 1987-1988, they either received their exterior and interior landmark designations at the same time, or they were designated as interior-only or exterior-only landmarks. The Lyceum is a unique case since while the interior-only designation was awarded in 1987, the exterior was already protected, hence the repetition. Anyway, I have reduced it now. Epicgenius (talk) 15:07, 22 November 2021 (UTC)
- There are no other obvious spelling or grammar errors.
