Deep Shag Records has sent an email to Wikipedia with the following message:

Dear Wikipedia,

The text that appears on your page for "Lunch with the Devil" uses copywritten material with our permission for re-use under a GNU Free Documentation License.

Best Wishes, Deep Shag Records —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.30.115.72 (talk) 04:08, 9 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

A notice of permission has been placed on the Deep Shag page for Fish Karma and the album "Lunch With The Devil". This page can be found at http://www.deepshag.com/artists/fish.html and the notice has been placed directly below the passage used on Wikipedia. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.30.115.72 (talk) 06:16, 10 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I actually went to this page cited in the previous entry and the permission is clearly there as stated. I have reverted the page to it's rightful version. Powerofshark (talk) 15:22, 10 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The notice needs to remain somewhere, or this permission is unverifiable. The permission does not seem to be displayed now. If Shag Records does not wish to permanently display the notice, it would probably serve you better to send permission to the Wikimedia Foundation. There is a boilerplate release form for this purpose here. The e-mail should come from an address associated with the website. The letter should clearly identify both the Wikipedia article and the page utilized. The release above is not quite sufficient, as it does not acknowledge that the release is irrevocable. (Please see WP:Permission for more.)
I have blanked the article pending resolution of this, either by permanent display of release at the external source or the registration of an OTRS number on this page. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 01:19, 15 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
It is insufficient to release it for use on Wikipedia, as material placed on Wikipedia may be modified and reused, commercially or otherwise. It must be released into public domain or under the terms of the GNU Free Documentation License. See Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission and Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 02:44, 15 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Permission is posted on the Deep Shag website AND the entry has been significantly rewritten. Powerofshark (talk) 02:47, 15 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Notification of GNU Free Documentation License was sent previously (see above). Powerofshark (talk) 02:51, 15 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The material is still duplicative, though, and the release at the website even after refreshing still says "USED WITH OUR PERMISSION ON WIKIPEDIA". I do not know why the Communications Committee has not logged a ticket number for the release, although if that was the extent of it, it may not have sufficiently addressed concerns. I've linked to the boilerplate release form above, if you do not wish to release the material under GFDL at the website. It does seem obvious that you're connected to this site, but we just need to clarify the terms of release. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 02:53, 15 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
