"1990s Band"
[edit]Is calling them a 1990s American Band, in the title, really accurate or fair? They release three albums in the 2000s. Cbmccarthy (talk) 15:04, 5 December 2014 (UTC)
I agree. This seems awkward to me. When I look at the disambiguation page for Luna, it doesn't really seem like it's necessary to be this specific. The other American Luna band appears to better known as Orchestra Luna, so I question how likely it is that someone would confuse these two bands. Regardless, I think it would feel more natural to title the article Luna (alternative rock band).MoeHartman (talk) 06:04, 7 March 2023 (UTC)

[edit]I'm not convinced Lou Reed has ever appeared on a Luna record (although he has appeared on stage with them) and Luna have recorded, to my knowledge just one Velvet Underground track which hardly "attests" to them being a primary influence.--Grange85 15:54, 10 July 2006 (UTC)
Velvet Underground
[edit]It’s a pretty easy to assume the influence of The Velvet Underground on Luna. I have never seen or heard a direct quote from Wareham and company about this but there is a string of a sort of interbreeding with the VU.
They opened for them in Paris in 1993
They opened for Lou Reed
Sterling Morrison's appearance on Bewitched
And (this is pushing it) they cover a Dream Syndicate song.
It’s rare to read a review of any Luna related occurrence without the Velvets mentioned.
Also on another note I recall another bass player briefly between Justin Harwood and Britta Phillips.
- I don't think there's any denying that VU has had an influence on Luna my issue was really with the errors in the statement - additionally does an assumption have a place in an encyclopaedia?
- As for the other bass player - Matt Quigley played three or four shows in between Justin and Britta although there's an awful lot of missing history in the entry that should probably be filled in before a temporary bass player should be worried about??? Grange85 23:25, 15 September 2006 (UTC)
- In an interview with Galaxie 500 they were asked about the VU and (disingenuously) replied "never heard of them. we've never heard their music."

Lunafied is available as the 2nd disc of Best of Luna on certain versions of the compilation. So it's no longer 'download only.' 71.175.66.130 02:36, 4 February 2007 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Lunaphoto.jpg

I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Source for "greatest band" quote
[edit]Described by Rolling Stone magazine as “the best band you’ve never heard of,”
What is the source for this? I have not found any reference to an actual Rolling Stone magazine stating that. Mdanziger (talk) 10:24, 2 October 2015 (UTC)
