[edit]Luke is popular with the Staples Center Crowd? I am not sure about that. In the recent game against the Celtics (February 2006) which was in LA, the fans appeared to have been booing Luke when he entered the game. And I remember a few earlier games when he was booed by the home crowd as well. There are times when he is cheered, but thats usually when he makes a play, or when Lakers are winning, but then everyone on the team is cheered. So I dont think that he is that popular with the Lakes crowd, the reaction he received simply depends on the plays he makes or doesnt make.--Gusiman 00:41, 5 March 2006 (UTC)
- He's not being booed. The hjb, hbcrowd yells, "Luuuuuuuuke," which sounds a lot like being booed. Just like Michael Cooper back in the Showtime days, who was called, "Cooooooooop" by the fans (also sounds like booing). howcheng {chat} 07:43, 5 March 2006 (UTC)
- They're not saying "boo", they're saying "boo-urns!" —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 24.199.116.137 (talk • contribs) 08:31, 4 December 2006 (UTC).
Re: Request for reference for this block:
"On the opening game of the 2007-2008 regular season against the Houston Rockets, in a rather embarrassing moment, Luke accidentally shot the basketball to the opposing team's basket after it was passed to him. The Rockets later won 95-93."
What specific references does this require? I think the references to the box score are enough.
- Don't be daft. Where in the boxscore does it highlight this?--Downwards 01:44, 2 November 2007 (UTC)
- The game was televised nationally. How are non-highlighted events referenced? Does a youtube video qualify as a source? I'm too lazy to read the guidelines. 210.213.169.171 01:57, 2 November 2007 (UTC)
- We aren't concerned here with what is verifiable, rather what is verified. "How are non-highlighted events referenced?" When it comes to your editing methods, they aren't. Just don't touch anything. --Downwards 07:02, 2 November 2007 (UTC)
- You've been quality entertainment. Unfortunately, I need to end the fun now. Virgofenix 00:32, 4 November 2007 (UTC)

Further, you can just request citations rather than deletion. 124.106.202.171 07:34, 1 November 2007 (UTC)

Is it really appropriate to discuss single plays by a player, unless, for instance, the play won an NBA championship? GeneCallahan (talk) 07:57, 29 February 2008 (UTC)

Actually this one is probably better, first person account from Bill Walton: http://www.iamatrailblazersfan.com/ArticleDisplay/tabid/297/ItemID/2008/Default.aspx

Semi-protected edit request on 30 April 2016
[edit]I would like to edit Luke Walton's page because he recently accepted an head coaching job for the Los Angeles Lakers and I would like to edit it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by ElCapoJr (talk • contribs) 23:06, 30 April 2016 (UTC)
- @ElCapoJr: Walton is not officially the Lakers' head coach until the Warriors' current season ends. The reason why this article is semi-protected in the first place is because many other editors were prematurely changing his team to Lakers in the infobox. --A guy saved by Jesus (talk) 23:07, 30 April 2016 (UTC)

Question
[edit]When dealing with reported signings, why not say "It was reported that Luke Walton agreed to a coaching position with the Sacramento Kings. The signing has not been officially confirmed or announced." or something along those lines?
Concerns about Wikipedia incorrectly labelling something that later turns out to be a false rumor obviously have merit, and his wikibox shouldn't be purple until an official press conference, but reporting substantiated rumors as unconfirmed seems preferable to disallowing any mention of the report entirely.
Much like the LeBron James article, in my opinion ignoring highly-reported news in the fear of being wrong is an example of Wikipedia 's bureaucracy preventing it from being an accurate source of information. 2600:1:9937:91C6:6493:2BFD:1BE5:E131 (talk) 03:58, 15 April 2019 (UTC)
