Sorry for all the drama nominator so let's start reviewing.

Infobox

[edit]

The infobox is great but the image size is not defined.Tbiw (talk) 14:45, 6 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Tbiw:I have removed the image size as it is not needed. See the infobox on the Thierry Henry article (which is a FA) for example. Cheers! REDMAN 2019 (talk) 11:40, 7 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
That's okay already. Let's move to the next step

Lead

[edit]

The lead is a bit long and so explanatory section but i notice a possible error which is "Copas del Rey" instead of Copa del Rey. Tbiw (talk) 14:28, 7 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Done I have fixed the Copa del Rey issue and shortened the lead. REDMAN 2019 (talk) 18:35, 7 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
That is already great. Tbiw (talk) 06:41, 8 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Club career

[edit]

Youth

[edit]

The youth section under club career was properly sources but in the quote i think this word "Suárez on his idol growing up, Gabriel Batistuta." had a grammatical error. Tbiw (talk) 07:09, 8 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

 Done REDMAN 2019 (talk) 11:28, 8 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Review by David Fuchs

[edit]
  • Layout and general:
    • I think the lead needs to be cut down further. It seems like undue weight that his Barcelona record covers a whole paragraph while everything before it gets squished, for example.
    • On the same line, the article is pushing 55KB of prose and nearly 10,000 words for a guy who has had less than 20 years of a professional career. There's whole paragraphs given to individual games that don't exactly demonstrate why it's so important to the individual in question. I would argue there should be cuts per WP:SUMMARY.
    • It's a bit odd that the article starts with details that get partially repeated and brought up later in "personal life". The first paragraph and change there feel like they're far more relevant when you're talking about his childhood rather than after the fact.
    • There's a lot of overquoting used primarily for decoration. Quotes should be kept to a minimum, especially as they start to feel like they impact the article's neutrality. Why does Suarez get callouts with quotes for biting people?
    • Where does the content in the infobox regarding senior career and national team come from? It doesn't have a reference.
  • Prose:
    • My main stumbling block with this article is the prose. By my count nearly half of the entire article's paragraphs are variations of the "On Date X, Y" format, which suggests there's a severe issue with properly summarizing the individual's career and not just being a laundry list of events and games. Combined with the excessive detail and referencing (see below), this is just a slog to read.
  • References:
    • The references have inconsistencies in formatting (sometimes websites are treated as italics, sometimes they're not and used in place of publisher, etc.) and large numbers of sources are missing additional details such as author and date. Some have a location provided, others don't, etc.
    • There are dead references or URLs that link to 404 not found errors.
    • His older brother, Paolo Suárez, is a retired professional footballer, who last played for Isidro Metapán in El Salvador. — apparently unreferenced.
    • There's currently a reference error for Ref. 413.
    • There's a lot of what I would consider ref-spam in the article. You've condensed some of the long-reffed statements down to their own footnotes, but if one good source can reference a statement, using just the one is better than using three, e.g. why use three references for Suarez moving to Barcelona when just the BBC source says all the detail provided?
    • Spot-checked statements attributed to current refs 28, 37, 109, 122, 173, 194, 245, 301, 316, 321, 388, and 412: I didn't spot issues with plagiarism.
      • Ref 109 is used to cite On 21 April 2013, during a 2–2 draw with Chelsea in a Premier League match at Anfield, Suárez bit Branislav Ivanović; this was the second time Suárez had bitten an opponent. but the source does not contain all those details.

Given the issues with length and structure, I'm failing the nomination. Der Wohltemperierte Fuchs talk 17:47, 3 February 2021 (UTC) Anish Kulkarni Sarper D — Preceding unsigned comment added by 50.205.218.218 (talk) 17:38, 10 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
