Question of working corners
[edit]Currently, the article notes that "After 15 years of trying to regain his license, he was finally allowed to work as a cornerman by New York State." This seems to have originated from an article from Sports Illustrated, which states:
> In the Morris Park gym in the Bronx, Luis Resto fills his time sweeping and sparring, sweeping and sparring. He has long since given up on fighting again, but the athletic commission recently approved his request to work corners. That gives him hope.
However, other articles (more up to date by a decade and a half) state that he's still not permitted to do so:
https://www.espn.com/blog/new-york/boxing/post/_/id/1374/luis-resto-denied-nysac-license https://bleacherreport.com/articles/952296-assault-in-the-ring-should-luis-resto-be-given-a-seconds-license
Notably, the second of these is by former Chairman of the NYSAC, Randy Gordon. He states that in 1995 (his last year as the chairman) Resto applied and was denied a second. And that, at the time of the article's writing (2011), Resto was going to apply for a seconds license again, implying he has not gotten one before:
> It has been heard it boxing circles that Luis Resto intends to apply to the New York State Athletic Commission for his Second's License very soon.
He attempted and (if you noted the first article linked above) was denied his license. This was all part of the Assault in the Ring documentary produced by HBO.
This is a preponderance of secondary sources that seem to counter the information currently presented in the article--which seems to be out of date. Is there any evidence that he was awarded a license, even temporarily, other than the Sports Illustrated article, because I can't find it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2600:1700:BD40:50F0:59A2:280B:96DA:9AC4 (talk) 01:12, 23 October 2020 (UTC)
