1997 Injury Comment

[edit]

In 1997 Luis Castillo was sent to the minors not even half way through the season where he went to play the rest of the season. He wasn't injured during the World Series like this article suggests. Castillo came off the DL in May and continued to play until the acquisition of Craig Counsell. After Counsell's arrival he was beat out for 2B and sent back to the minors to work on his base running and hitting. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.35.75.64 (talk) 17:24, 19 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

GA Review

[edit]

After reviewing this, there's a lot of work to be done yet for it to reach GA. The lead is one sentence. That's not gonna cut it, it needs to be much better than that. checkY The Florida Marlins section needs to not be one giant paragraph. Split it up into a few nice ones. checkY Surely the Minnesota/New York section can be over a paragraph since he spent two seasons there. checkY Plus, a lot of his accomplishments should be able to be entwined in the article. checkY If you can, try and add some non-baseball info in, like his family or otherwise. That I know is difficult though.

In conclusion, I have to fail this for now. It's well on its way though. I can try making this a GA myself if you want, but do what's listed above so that it can at least get to "on hold" status for GA. Wizardman 20:32, 8 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Alright, I'll look it over again. (I'd improve it myself and repost it, but with how bad the backlog is it wouldn't be seen for at least a month) Wizardman 02:35, 9 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Good Article Assessment

[edit]

Hi, I have reviewed the article according to the Good Article criteria. For the record my knowledge of baseball is very limited, so you are getting a review from this perspective; although this should be an advantage I hope! I will place the article on hold, I'll do this for at least one week unless all problems are addressed. Following one week however I make no promises. I'll list the issues/problems I have here according to the criteria:

1. It is well written.

*"remained on the Charlotte Knights" remained with? checkY STORMTRACKER 94 22:48, 9 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

2. It is factually accurate and verifiable.

  • The publisher of the websites used should be included in the reference. checkY STORMTRACKER 94 22:48, 9 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • We be good if you could find some different sources for career information. I have absolutely no doubt there are some out there.

3. It is broad in its coverage.

4. It is neutral.

  • Fine here

5. It is stable.

  • No problems here.

6. It is illustrated, where possible and appropriate, by images.

  • Image is acceptable and appropriate.

Thats all I have found. The main problems are things to do with how the article is written, rather then the material in it. As someone without much knowledge of baseball I found the article very difficult to read, with too many abbreviations and jargon unexplained. Avoiding jargon as much as possible helps obviously. The only other thing is there is no info on his family or personal background. This really is necessary to meet the "broad coverage" requirement. Hopefully this can all be sorted in seven days. I'd hate to fail this article because of the large backlog at WP:GAN. Any questions feel free to leave a message on my talk page. - Shudde talk 23:39, 8 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You have clearly not done everything I listed. One big thing is there has been absolutely nothing added on his personal life. See my Red XN marks above. - Shudde talk 03:14, 12 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Passed GA. I am not 100% confident this would survive a Reassessment because one sentence on his personal life may not be enough. This section should certainly be expanded. Congratulations on the article. - Shudde talk 20:14, 14 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

2009 season

[edit]

The leading MLB in preseason walks thing is troublesome. It mentions his 56 at bats, but a walk of course doesn't count as an at bat. I would substitute the number of plate appearances, but I don't know it.

Maybe just delete the mention to how many at bats?

Or, in six months from now, will anyone even care about this? Maybe it should be deleted altogether. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 131.182.172.229 (talk) 17:06, 8 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The Yankees scored two runs after Luis Castillo dropped a popup with two outs in the ninth inning for a wild 9-8 win over the Mets —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.161.156.130 (talk) 05:33, 13 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Is this page locked? Someone should change On Friday June 12th, Castillo personally handed the Yankees a 9-8 win when he dropped a routine fly ball with 2 outs in the 9th. The Mets had been leading 8-7. Castillo said after the game "I should of had it" as it's not very impatial, has no references for quote and is missing a full stop. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.44.206.36 (talk) 11:29, 13 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

GA Possible Reassessment

[edit]

Can the New York Mets section be sourced? I know nothing about baseball but I think it needs a bit of work to stay as a GA. Spiderone (talk) 17:11, 19 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
