Violin Concerto

[edit]

I did some light research on the 1944 violin concerto, and it seems that an earlier recording (performed on 2001, but released in 2011) exists.

In fact, the CD (Called Acte Preable) it was released with also included other works (Deux Mélodies pour violon et piano op. 5, Deux Nocturnes pour violon et piano op. 30, and Transcriptions for violin and piano form ballet Pan Twardowski Op. 45)

The performers are:

  • Ewelina Nowicka - Violinist
  • Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra - Orchestra
  • Zygmunt Rychert - Conductor

There is also a YouTube uploading of this, titled "Ludomir Rozycki (1883-1953): Violin Concerto (1944) **MUST HEAR**" which was uploaded in 2012.

While I have yet to listen to the recording by Janusz Wawrowski, I will assume that both recordings are different and have different orchestration, but since the recording of Nowicka is earlier, shouldn't it be mentioned somewhere in the following paragraph?:

  • "In 1944 Różycki began writing a violin concerto but had to leave the manuscript buried in his garden when he fled Warsaw. Discovered years later by construction workers, the score ended up in the archives of the National Library of Poland. Violinist Janusz Wawrowski later restored the work, performed the premiere in 2018, and released a recording in 2021."
